Jorge was our guide, we got to see several birds and since it was my first time in bird watching I learned how they differ, the months in which they migrate, and appreciate more the view in the forest and the movement of the leaves to be able to find them.

Best way to start with a new Hobbie Jorge introduced me to bird watching in a very interesting and fun way. Colombia is the place to watch birds and Pajareros in Salento has amazing spots to watch them

We did a 1.5 hour walk, through Salento and into the eco park. We had a great time! We managed to see a bunch of the birds we wanted, with our guide Jorge who was great at identifying birds and pointing them out to us. Would recommend!

A memorable walk with Jorge who guided us around Salento at dawn. Thanks to his knowledge and the quality binoculars he rented us, we were able to observe very beautiful birds such as the blue-necked callist, the gold-faced tyrannical or the black-backed tangara. In addition, the city’s overhanging promenade offers beautiful perspectives in the rising sun. A very successful first birding experience that makes me want to go deeper!

This has to be the definitive tour to see a huge area of wax palms high in the Andes. Santiago, our guide was an enthusiastic expert at finding even the most elusive of birds, and during our day we saw various species of toucans and also the very rare yellow eared parrot. Extremely good sightings of all of these, and in all, over 40 spp for the day. However, the La Carbonera at over 3300 metres is something very special. Our driver was careful and considerate and an accomplished bird spotter in his own right. Overall one of our best experiences in Colombia.

What a great day! 51 unique species, and a wonderful hike on the “route of the toucans” in the Cocora valley. Camilo was the perfect guide for us - very friendly, good sense of humor, passion and knowledge. He was patient when we wanted to stop for pictures, and excited to show off so many great species. The hike was beautiful, not too crowded, and had very little rain. We loved seeing so many new lifers, but the best were the black and chestnut eagle eating a sickle-winged guan on the tree right in front of us, the black billed mountain toucan, southern emerald toucanet, the Trogon in perfect position for photography, and then finally, seeing the Andean Condor. So so cool. I’m a photographer and got so many incredible shots, I’ll be editing for weeks!
