Be prepared to wait a long time for a bus to show up. There were over 150 people in line with no bus showing up for at least 30 minutes. Upon a call to the local trolley office, I got a message that the mailbox was full. Upon a call to Viator, they explained to me how hop on hop off buses work. Not my first rodeo, I am very aware of how they work. No help at all from Viator on this unacceptable situation. If the local company did not have the bandwidth to accommodate two cruise ships in port, then tickets should not have been sold. I was afraid to get off the bus once one finally showed up, because I didn’t know how long the wait would be for another bus to show up at whatever stop I got off. Never again. I wish I would have taken a picture of how long the line was. I do have to say our trolley driver Finch, was excellent.

I wish the drivers spent more time talking about landmarks, but they have to navigate the streets of Boston..

Buses run every 20 minutes. Some site have a distance to walk to see, some are up a steep hill, some are on mostly flat ground. Tour guides are knowledgeable, friendly and funny.

We enjoyed the trolley experience. There was a cruise ship In town that made busses impossible to get on at stop 8. We waited over an hour for a bus with room. Dispatch said, 3 times they were sending an empty bus. No empty bus arrived. The drivers were nice about it, but dispatch wasn’t doing its job. Dispatch put their drivers in a position where they had to try to appease 30 ppl with false promises.

Trolleys ran frequently and drivers were informative and entertaining. Excellent way to experience the entire city without too much walking.
