We enjoyed our food walking tour of Bratislava. Our local guide, Sylvia, was passionate about Slovakia, knowledgeable and so friendly. While we walked from place to place she shared the history of Bratislava and Slovakia, and what it’s like to live in this beautiful country. Sylvia took us to places that we would never have come across ourselves. A warning - don’t eat breakfast before this tour! We enjoyed potato bread with sheep cheese spread, and crackling spread, had a delicious lunch of roast duck breast, potato pancake and more in a former monastery, sampled the Pressburg bajgel etc, before sitting in a atmospheric bar with cold drinks. Thankyou Sylvia for most enjoyable tour!

This tour was like ordering a pint of beer and expecting to pay $5 and the bill was $20. It doesn't mean the beer wasn't good, it means the price was way to high for the value received compared to other food tours we've taken. And we take a food tour in just about every city we visit. Case in point, we took a food tour in Budapest the next day which I will reference if you want to read on. This tour was almost $150 per person. It should have been more like $75 and that would have accounted for a sizable portion of the cost going to the guide for leading us to the different place. Let me state that the guide was good. This is an overall value statement. We paid half this amount in Budapest and received more food, more alcohol and better quality food. The food on this tour was served mainly family style. At one of the stops there was duck. The trouble is neither me or my wife got to taste the duck because it was gone by the time it reached us. On another stop, we visited a local grocery store. I enjoy seeing how the locals shop. The guide bought two packaged local cheeses and served them to us. The cost could not have been 2E per person. On the last stop we visited a bakery that didn't bake their goods. Ironically, the next day we went to a bakery that was within walking distance that not only did the baking but was in business for over 100 years (Pressburg Bajgel). The cost for the two of us was 8E and the lady behind the counter showed us how the coke was actually from a tapped key vs mixed. I wrote most of this to the tour operator and they did respond acknowledging that they should not have run out of the duck but not offering anything in the way of compensation . I even provided them the name of the bakery so they could include that instead of where they took us (they had asked for the name). So if value isn't important to you, by all means take the tour. But if it would bother you to pay $20 for a $5 beer this tour is not for you.

Our guide, Daniela, was excellent. Gave us a wonderful overview of the traditional food dishes as well as information about various city sites as we visited. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to experience a variety of traditional foods, wines and beers

We loved our Bratislava traditional food tour. Our guides were so knowledgeable and full of energy. We experienced local market, visited multiple restaurants and shops. Everything was so fresh and delicious and people were amazing. My daughter said that she tasted the best food ever in Bratislava.

Today my husband and I went on a brilliant private traditional food tour with our superb guide Daniela. We absolutely loved it! Daniela was very knowledgeable about everything to do with Bratislava. She brought us to places off the beaten track where we sampled a variety of local foods, beer and wine. My favourite was the crispy duck leg with gnocchi, sauce and bacon with red cabbage which we sampled in an old monastery next to a hospital. We learnt so much about the history of Bratislava from Daniela which made our trip here much more meaningful. I would highly recommend this tour and want to say thanks again for an exceptional experience. 10 out of 10 for Taste Bratislava tour and our wonderful guide Daniela.

Thank you for a great Food tour, we all enjoyed the walk, the Food and especially Our guide. She had a lot of knowledge and patience to answer all our questions, and her Swedish was excellent and easy to understand. The tour was well organized and you showed us places we would never found by ourselves, and gave us some memorable tastes.

Silvia was the most extraordinary guide! Warm, knowledgeable, and full of keen insights, she took us to a wonderful variety of pubs, markets, and restaurants. Her choices provided us great opportunities to experience the cuisine of Bratislava. The next day we returned to three of the sites we visited with her. Not only were the foods absolutely delicious and memorable but we received a first rate history of Bratislava. Silvia also introduced us to the beverages of Slovakia. It was truly worthwhile and I would enthusiastically encourage anyone to book a tour with Silvia.

Highly recommend this tour if you find yourself in Bratislava for a day! This tour not only introduces you to some of the traditional food in Bratislava, but it also takes you to off-the-beaten track restaurants and experiences that are where the Slovakian locals actually eat and dine. It was awesome to leave the city center where the tourists concentrate and walk a bit outside to experience more of the local culture, and, of course, the food. So this tour is not only about eating, it’s about seeing a different way of life – which was fantastic! Daniela was our tour guide and she is as charming as she is knowledgeable. Spending time with her for a few hours was like talking to a friend! Special Note: The food tour I had signed up for canceled on me within 24 hours of the tour start. So Daniela, at Taste of Bratislava, was able to work me in as a last minute add to a tour she had planned. It was so very appreciated, as my day in Bratislava would not have been as wonderful if I couldn’t have done this experience!
