The people are the treasures of Bucerias and Mauricio does an excellent job of bringing us to their homes in the true part of Mexico north of the highway. The people shared with us their skills, accomplishments and warmth. I look forward to more experiences of Mexico with Human Connection.

Overall, We were disappointed. We expected a hands on demonstration, and there wasn’t one at the bead works. Leo’s story was informative but shocking, and strayed into her latest very stressful experience. We are not therapists. The wood working was interesting and the artist showed us how to make the different items. As expected we had time to purchase ( no pressure) items. The Mexican lunch was wonderful, and the salsa making and tasting was interesting and fun. Lunch was delicious.

This was our first Human Connections tour and it will not be our last! Mauricio is a top notch guide. His kind, caring manner toward not only the tour participants but the wonderful people he introduced us to was a delight to behold. He was so knowledgeable and he imparted his knowledge with ease. He is a natural teacher. The Name Human Connection is just right for this tour Not for profit group as I felt that Mauricio truly helped us all connect to the experince of the wonderful people we met. We plan to go on another outing as soon as possible.

This was an amazing day! Starting with Maurizio our guide giving us details on what we would be experiencing along the way. We had the great privilege to listen to Leal, who shared her life story and the incredible bead work she creates that allows her to support her family of three. Next we met Andres, a woodworker that creates beautiful wood pieces from wood he collects, shapes, finishes and then sells mainly tourists on the beach. This all is done in a small backyard tent area using rudimentary tools. Finally we capped off the day with a terrific lunch in the home of a couple who cooked and served a traditional meal. Our group of nine provided a little help as we made two delicious salsas. The tour was a wonderful experience made even better by our leader Maurizio who effortlessly managed translating for those of us non Spanish speakers. His enthusiasm for the work being done merging cultures is infectious. And the love he has for the history of Mexico broadened our understanding of the diversity of this country and the beauty of it. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our guide, Mauricio, and the artisans we visited. We learned so much about Mexico’s story and how people live and work here and their stories of how they came to this part of Mexico from their hometowns. Meeting them in their homes and seeing their workshops and getting to know them were priceless. I know the gift this was of getting away from the tourist areas and the beach and actually seeing the faces and learning the names and stories of these artisans who may have been selling their wares on the beach or in their shops where I’ve been. Lunch was delicious fish tacos, homemade salsa and agua fresca in the home of proud cooks. This was my third tour with Human Connections and I highly recommend this group and their work! Travel is all about human connections, after all, in addition to seeing beauty and enjoying new experiences.

This was a very interesting cultural experience. We visited an artisan who made wooden utensils and it is very interesting to see how he lived and how he made the utensils. We then went to a weaver’s house who explained about the process and how he made some blankets. Our final destination was a person‘s home in which she served us an outstanding meal of chicken mole. We learned about each person‘s lives and what they were involved in. Claudia and Mauricio were fantastic tour hosts. I strongly recommend this tour for anyone interested in a cultural experience in Bucerias.

We went on a private shorter cultural tour during our company retreat for our creative agency and had an amazing time. Maurizio was an incredible guide and host and brought us to two different artisan's homes where we learned so much about the history of arts, crafts, and more from the region and beyond. So inspiring and engaging and really appreciate the care and intentionality that Human Connections puts into their work
