I've been on a few food tours, and this one ranks on the lower end of the scale. There's the food tour where you're really learning a lot about the role the food plays in the culture while seeing sites, and there's the food tour where you're going to food stops that are in a small tourist area and the guide acts as a host to order for you, handle payment, and make sure you get fed. This tour was more of the latter. Lower on the information scale and the spots did not feel special. I have a friend traveling to Budapest in August and will not recommend this tour. I do not think it was worth the money. Our guide was pleasant and nice to talk to but don't think they were passionate about food.

The Secret Food Tours Budapest Downtown - Food Tour provided a tasty introduction to Budapest on our first day there. György was a professional, knowledgeable, and friendly tour guide. He shared important historical and cultural context, as well as his own personal experience, while explaining the different foods we sampled throughout the day. The tour was just about the right length and everyone who served our group in the various restaurants/shops were so hospitable and kind.

The Budapest Centre Food Tour was a fantastic experience and a great way to discover both Hungarian cuisine and the city's history. Our guide Zoltan was incredibly engaging, mixing fascinating historical insights with humorous stories and local knowledge that kept the tour entertaining from start to finish. We enjoyed a wonderful variety of food and drinks, from traditional Hungarian classics to local specialities, with generous portions and excellent quality throughout. The tour felt very well organised and offered the perfect combination of culture, sightseeing, and delicious food.

Kitty is a friendly and informative host - she really went the extra mile by following up with photos, recipes and ideas for other things to do in Budapest. We hugely enjoyed the tour - loved the cultural and local info and got a good sense of Hungarian cuisine. Make sure you start the tour hungry!!!
