Your tour begins in the heart of the town at Deak Square from the Lutheran Church.
Budapest's Christmas fairs have been chosen as the best in Europe for several years, thanks to their focus on handcrafted products from local artisans and small manufacturers. Your guide will show you around City Hall Courtyard, where you can admire the ice skating rink and visit charity points that showcase how Hungarians donate to people in need during the Christmas season.
Strolling along Fashion Street, you'll reach the first market at Vörösmarty Square, where you can enjoy the famous chimney cake and warm up with a cup of mulled wine.
Along the Danube, you'll take in breathtaking views of the Buda Castle District and Matthias Church before arriving at St. Stephen's Basilica, home to Budapest's largest illuminated Christmas market. Your guide will then lead you inside this magnificent Roman Catholic church for a tour.

Budapest is definitely the best place for beautiful christmas market experience! And the mulled wine in Hungary is just something different than anywhere else. We loved this tour!

The Guide, a young girl, was amazing! She shared so much knowledge and was so nice and also fun. The tour had great stops and included mulled wine, chimney cake and entrance into the Basilica! She, the guide, also gave us a lot of good recommendations!

A great 2.5 hours! Basilica was really interesting and our guide adapted to our group by telling us more about the history of the city while we walked around. Highly recommended!

Not only did our guide not show up, but they told us they weren't even aware of that tour.

Very nice and well structured markets. The food area excels over everything. Interesting craftsmanship but not cheap prices. The craft part was discontinued on the morning of December 31 to make room for the celebrations, in my opinion modest and contained compared to what I would have expected after reading various reviews on the web.

Christina could not have been better. Very knowledgeable and impeccable English. The Christmas markets may be the best in Europe.

My wife and I took this fantastic tour on our second day in Budapest on the 6th December , which happened to be Santa Claus day in Hungary. Christine was our guide and she was the most fantastic tour guide ever! She told us lots about the history of the country, the city, the economics and culture, and most especially about Christmas celebrations and traditions in Hungary. The tour starts behind the Opera House in the office of Absolute Tour company. We visited the splendid St Stephens Basilica first and then as we wandered round our first market, Christine pointed out all the different types of Hungarian food and drink. We were able to sample chimney cake. We then visited a very cosy classic old strudel bakery and we sampled all sorts of different types of strudel, and we saw it being made, and we also tasted 3 local wines, all included in the price. After that it was dark outside so all the festive lights were on, and our next markets on the tour were various stalls of handicrafts and mulled wine, where Christine bought us some hot spiced tea and mulled wine. Christine was such a great guide, we just can't praise her enough, we learnt so much and had the best time ever ! Do this tour and then you will have a lot more knowledge and confidence as you tour the Christmas market stalls by yourself afterwards. I definitely recommend.

I had a wonderful time on this Christmas market tour. Edit told me fascinating new facts about the Basilica, we listened to a concert inside, and looked at the beautiful building. We went to a nice little restaurant where we had dessert and 3 types of wine. We also walked to Vorosmarty Ter and saw the lovely markets there. At the end, she gave me a great recommendation for dinner. The whole evening was so fun and informative. I highly recommend this tour and Edit as a guide!
