What makes our original Foodapest Street Food Tour truly unique, is that the experience is the perfect blend of authentic Hungarian flavors, local storytelling, and intimate group vibes. Unlike standard food tours, we go beyond just eating: we connect you to the culture, history, and people behind each bite.
You’ll taste everything from iconic staples like goulash and chimney cake to lesser-known local favorites, all paired with carefully selected regional wines and spirits. Each stop is a mini cultural deep-dive, guided by locals who share not just food, but the stories and traditions that make Hungary’s cuisine so rich.
With a relaxed, small group setting, this isn’t just a tour, it’s a shared culinary journey where you leave full, inspired, and maybe even with a few new friends.

Our Tour guide Niki was excellent. She had lots of knowledge and was very sweet. She dealt with an awkward couple who were running late, then decided not to come very professionally as she had to deal with other people in the tour waiting to get started. She kept smiling and took us round town at a comfortable walking pace. The start of the tour, the food and drinks were great, but to be honest the last stop we were a little disappointed with the food.

Absolutely the worst tour I’ve ever been on, and I’ve taken many tours over the years. There were 24 people split into two groups, but even 12 people was too many to comfortably navigate the market. It was difficult to hear the guide, and we were constantly stopping to count people and regroup. Unless you were walking right beside the guide, you missed half of what was being said. Headsets or even a simple sign or umbrella would have helped tremendously. We were also frustrated when an extra person was allowed to join after being told earlier that the tour was already full. We spent an hour in the market, and the only food sampled during that time was pickles. I’m not sure how they claim there were 12 tastings unless different pickles and sausages were counted separately. Based on other reviews, it also seems we should have been offered beer at the sausage stop, which we were not. The food handling was also unacceptable. Guests were reusing toothpicks and handling food with their hands. The way the chimney cakes were passed around felt chaotic and unhygienic, and there was food I refused to eat after seeing multiple people touch it. Sadly, I left hungry and feeling like I did not get my money’s worth. I would not recommend this tour.

Very good food tour with Niki. Nice mix of history, light exercise, and food choices. Very good if you want to have an authentic Hungarian food experience.

A good variety of foods to try. It was nice learning about the culture through the food. Our guide Kinga was excellent. She was good about explaining the food and answering questions. We tried some items we had never heard of and would like to go back to the restaurant for more. It was an enjoyable tour with a good group.

Niki, our guide was fun and informative. There was plenty to eat and drink with a nice mix of filling food. The restaurant where we had our goulash was busy and had a nice vibe but the last restaurant, we felt, lacked atmosphere.

We had a really friendly & entertaining hostess, Niki who told us all about the trading surrounding the dishes / drinks we tried. Each venue was reasonably close together so not miles of walking & the group.was small & friendly. Plenty of each dish to try - in fact you need to remember to leave room for each one! Only 1 slight issue - it was not immediately obvious where to meet for rhe evening tour & we arrived at the wrong start point. Fortunately it was a quick 6.min walk to the right one - but we weren't the only ones in the group who made this error, due to varying comms errors. Niki was excellant, checking she had all attendees & phoning the stragglers to locate them. All in all a fantastic evening & a great way to try Hungarian cuisine. PS watch out for the sparrows (cute face, feed me & pigeons (no manners - I'm getting in there for scraps) They will.'mug' you for crumbs. Yes - I scammed to the sparrows - too cute not to (then they told their mates & I was mobbed 😆)

Very nice tour and great guide. Ate all the basics and allowed us to try many items. Water bottles should be included and individual serving should be done instead of toothpick samples.

Nikki our guide was amazing, she did a wonderful job of explaining the food and basic preparations and history. We had fun, good food and education on this tour. Highly recommend it. We also received a recipe booklet of traditional Hungarian dishes.
