What makes our original Foodapest Street Food Tour truly unique, is that the experience is the perfect blend of authentic Hungarian flavors, local storytelling, and intimate group vibes. Unlike standard food tours, we go beyond just eating: we connect you to the culture, history, and people behind each bite.
You’ll taste everything from iconic staples like goulash and chimney cake to lesser-known local favorites, all paired with carefully selected regional wines and spirits. Each stop is a mini cultural deep-dive, guided by locals who share not just food, but the stories and traditions that make Hungary’s cuisine so rich.
With a relaxed, small group setting, this isn’t just a tour, it’s a shared culinary journey where you leave full, inspired, and maybe even with a few new friends.

We had a truly wonderful experience on this Budapest food tour and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city. Our guide, Emma, was absolutely excellent—knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly very passionate about Hungarian food and culture. She brought each stop to life with fascinating insights and made the whole experience feel personal and relaxed. Every food stop was fantastic. What really stood out was the focus on authentic, local cuisine—Foodapest was meticulous in ensuring everything we tried was traditionally made and properly sourced, which made the experience feel genuinely immersive rather than touristy. We enjoyed every single stop, but a few highlights for us were the delicious chimney cake and the meat stuffed pancakes, which were both memorable treats. The final stop was a perfect way to end the tour—traditional Hungarian wine paired with goulash, which was absolutely excellent. Overall, a brilliant experience—great food, great company, and a fantastic introduction to Hungarian cuisine. Highly recommended!

We had a really enjoyable time on this Budapest food tour and would definitely recommend it. Our guide, Niki, was leading her first tour, and she did a great job throughout. She got in touch on WhatsApp beforehand to confirm the details and meeting point, which made everything easy and stress-free from the start. Niki was joined by a trainee, Lucy, and they made a great team. Niki was friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable, sharing interesting insights about the food and its origins without it ever feeling overwhelming. There was a great range of traditional Hungarian food and drink to try along the way, including strudel, goulash with a spicy hot sauce nicknamed “Strong Steven,” Hungarian wine, and Borsodi beer. We also had chimney cake in three flavours (walnut, cinnamon, and vanilla sugar), lángos, pálinka, a chicken crepe, a cottage cheese pasta dish, and a chestnut dessert. There were plenty of different stops, and by the end everyone felt nicely full. Overall, it was a really well-organised tour and a great way to experience Budapest’s food scene while learning a bit more about the culture. Egé! 🍷

Kinga & Nicky were fabulous. Kinga led the group, which was a much larger group than expected due to sickness of the other tour guide. Kinga didn't let it worry her and she was also training Nicky at the same time. They were both really friendly and their English was impeccable (had very British humour too!). We received a text the morning of the tour to confirm who was our guide, we met them both and they were welcoming. We had a tour around the market hall, with insider knowledge and stories about the stalls as we walked around. They made sure to congregate the group in a quieter area to make sure that everyone could hear. We were greeted with a welcome biscuit which was lovely. We tried Langosh in a beautiful local place which had an allocated private space for the group. We also were offered Palinka (which Nicky presented on her own and was amazing!) We shared a toast (or egy!) Together. We then went for chimney cake and had multiple flavours to try .then as a little apology for the group being so large we went to a restaurant and had wine, unicum and goulash. They were very accommodating of my dietary requirements and at no point did I feel like an inconvenience. We then went to another place where we had a pancake dish, a pasta dish and a dessert. No ask was too big, we felt welcomed at every point. It was one of the highlights of our trip!

Loved the food tour - it was a last minute switch from a cooking class and in the end probably the better option given the wide range of food on offer. Kinga was a great guide and she made a real effort to find gluten free alternatives for me along the way which was appreciated. Thoroughly recommend.
