The Bum Dra trek is one of the most beautiful short duration trek in Bhutan with only one night camping in the wild. But the scenery and landscape may well be worth compared to all of the other treks and also in terms of the adventure and the experience that goes along as you hike up. Also called the ‘The Trek of the Thousand Dakinis’ (celestial female beings) you can even explore the numerous sacred and holy caves where the angels had convened. You can also get a spectacular view of the Taktsang Monastery from the top which you will not see from the usual tourist route.

I highly recommend Swallowtail Tours for any trip in Bhutan. We had a 12 days tour including Druk Path trek and cultural visits in Paro Valley, Thimpu Valley and Punakha. Kinza and Singye were great guides, always taking care of us and providing wonderful explanations and making the best of our time in Bhutan. The trek staff and our driver were amazing, we felt really welcome and safe during all the trip. And the food was amazing!! Thanks for providing such great experience and wonderful memories that will never forget. Silvia

I recently completed an 11 day custom cultural and nature tour that included the Bumbrek overnight trek to Tiger's Nest. It was an amazing experience! We were greeted at the airport by our guides, Tshering and Padang, from Swallowtail Travels to begin our adventure. From the very start, Tshering and Padang were welcoming and knowledgeable, providing us with insights into Bhutanese culture and history. They made us feel at home throughout the trip. The hotel selections were great with comfortable rooms, delicious cuisine, and massage services. The Bumbrek trail itself is breathtaking! The landscapes were stunning and challenging but so worth it. Reaching the iconic Tiger's Nest Monastery was a highlight of the trip, and the moment you see it perched on the cliffside is simply magical. Swallowtail Travels did an excellent job organizing our trek. With a group of all level, hiking experience, they were able to accommodate our needs. Due to unexpected weather (wild fires), we experienced a slight change in the itinerary. Tshering provided multiple options which allowed for us to hike Druk trek path. This was a highlight of the trip, hiking to base camp, staying in luxury tent accommodations. We practiced yoga and meditation at sunset over the majestic mountains. Every detail was taken care of to make our experience extra special. Swallowtail prioritize their guests' comfort and experience. The last day I was able to visit a local boutique for some shopping to finish off the memorable experience. If you're looking for an authentic and breathtaking adventure in Bhutan, I highly recommend booking your experience through Swallowtail Travels! Thank you, Tshering and Padang, for an unforgettable experience—I can’t wait to return!

Do not believe the descriptions of the tour guides ... the steps will be at least 7,000 not 700, the cafeteria is not nearby, nor halfway along the route..... if it goes well it is between a quarter and a third of the way. Apart from the above, the experience is exciting and the satisfaction of having done this route (starting at 2,700 m asl and reaching 3,200 m asl) at 78 years old is rewarding. Neglecting the physical effort the route is beautiful, in the middle of lush vegetation, with glimpses and exciting views. Also the visit to the various premises of this hermitage (still inhabited by about twenty monks) is interesting .... you can not photograph inside but it does not matter many images, of this incredible place, remain imprinted in the memory

I can’t say more favorable things for this company, its owner, my guide - Singye. I had the most wonderful 8 days in Bhutan. I cried on the flight home. As a solo female traveler I felt very supported and incredibly safe. Can’t recommend a Leki home stay more as well. Tashi delek!

Great morning trek to the Tigers Nest Monastery. My guide Pema was very informative. The trek was not too difficult and the reward of the spectacular tigers nest monestary perched on the cliff edge at the top was definitely worth it.

Pema Tenzin guided us (spouse and adult daughter) for 6 days throughout W Bhutan with a tilt towards hiking and culture. Pema was excellent as was Ugyen (our driver). Highly recommend visiting Bhutan with this duo and Bhutan Swallowtail Tours. Singye was very helpful with organizing our logistics also.

We did the Tiger’s Nest hike with guide Lobsang Nima, who was wonderful. Swallowtail was dependable and very pleasant. Lobsang was a great guide and answered all our questions, providing a great hike up to Tiger’s Next and then a tour of the monasteries at the mountaintop. Swalllowtail also provided a delicious Bhutanese lunch after the hike, which was the perfect end to the one-day hike. Would highly recommend Swallowtail and Lobsang for any/all adventures in Bhutan!

Wow wow wow! My friend and I just finished an 11 day tour with Bhutan Swallowtail. What a dream trip !! The moment we got off the plane in Paro we knew we were in a special place . Our guide Pema and driver Jigme made us feel very welcomed . As our tour ,a combination of hiking and cultural, continued my friend and I were saying to each other that we are so lucky to have Pema and Jigme with us . They made us feel safe, they looked after our needs very thoughtfully, they made us laugh. It’s true when they say Bhutanese are the happiest people. We felt that with Pema and Jigme. We made slight changes to our customized itinerary and they were happy to accommodate. It made everything so easy for us!! By the end of our trip , it felt like a caring family on holiday together. It really was a dream come true. Once in a lifetime experience indeed . We highly recommend this tour and highly recommend Pema and Jigme. We miss them already .
