The boat was far larger and far more crowded than any snorkelling tour we’ve previously been on. Seating was scarce, there wasn’t really any room to stow belongings and the overall atmosphere felt claustrophobic. Not exactly the relaxing reef experience we expected. The food was poor. Meat eaters were given beef, chicken and ham; vegetarians/vegans/pescatarians had a single main option that wasn’t very good, and there were no fish options. The professional photos were surprisingly poor quality and wildly overpriced - hard to justify when the tour itself already costs a small fortune. To make matters worse, the photographer was rude and accused me of taking photos from her iPad on my phone, which did not happen. Frankly, even if I had wanted to, I wouldn’t have bothered - the photos she took weren’t worth saving! But my main issue is that Calypso Reef Cruises is dishonest and exploitative. We paid over £200 each for a single dive plus snorkelling trip, which is already steep. Well before the tour, I received an email warning that some medical conditions or medications may require medical clearance. The examples given were things like breathing or ear problems. On the day, I completed the medical form and stated that I’ve been taking ADHD medication for the past three years. I was immediately told there was no possibility of diving. I then spoke directly to the manager, Sam, who was unfriendly and unhelpful and who ultimately confirmed this decision. When I asked why this wasn’t flagged earlier, especially since they had already contacted me about medical requirements, I was met with a sarcastic response along the lines of “we can’t ask everything”. So if you’re going with Calypso Reef Cruises, your options are to either withhold medical information or choose a more honest company. I’d say save your money and go with a better company.

Amazing experience... Relatively small group, great snacks and lunch.. The crew were fabulous, attentive and caring. Despite my fear of deep water I was taken along the reef. The reef was beautiful with amazing fishes and corals!!!

Wonderful diving on the Great Barrier Reef. Three different dive sites, small diving groups, all equipment provided. Coral and fish life very diverse, and a bonus visit from a turtle. Staff very helpful and friendly and put on a nice lunch. Would recommend this trip.

Great trip, beautiful day and very calm sea. Friendly crew. I did snorkeling. The reef was beautiful and it was much more informative with the guide. We were at 3 very similar reef locations, and the first one was without instructor, which I prefer less. The equipment was good. The food is there but not a highlight. There was a photogapher but she didn't capture any good image of me personally, although some pictures of other people were nice.

My husband and I had a great day out on the Calypso boat. We had a lovely ride out to the first spot sat in the sun at the back of the boat. We had 3 spots to go Snorkeling at. They were all great and easy to navigate. And you definitely had plenty of time at each stop. Never felt rushed. Lunch was really nice. And at stops 1 and 3 tea and biscuits were provided. We never felt like the boat was over crowded. And all the staff were great. And we enjoyed the educational talk between stops by one of the girls. Helped to understand the reef a bit better. We would definitely reccomend this as a great day out to see the Great Barrier reef.

Great trip, well organised. Quite a lot of people on the boat so the guided snorkel tour was a bit cramped. It’s a long way out to the reef.
