Drive along the forest service roads through the beautiful mountains of Cape Breton. Learn about the mountains, the people who worked in them from the past to the present, and keep an eye out for moose and other wildlife as you make your way to North River Falls, the highest falls in Nova Scotia.
Leave the Jeep at the trailhead and walk (with your guide) 15 minutes down an ATV trail to the lookout, where you'll enjoy a beautiful view of this triple-decker falls.
There's an option to hike to the bottom of the falls for intermediate-advanced hikers, or you can choose to explore more hidden gems in the Margaree Valley.
If heading back to the valley to explore: Hike out, hop in the Jeep, and head down into Margaree Valley to discover scenic gems only found with a local guide!
If hiking to the bottom: Continue 30-40 minutes down the mountain to the base of the falls to get a better look and feel the spray of the falls up close, then make your way back up to the Jeep and head out.

Mac took us on a great day of hiking, viewing waterfalls, going to scenic places and sharing the History of Cape Breton. When offered a chance to stop for lunch, my colleague and I quickly decided to keep on touring because it was so interesting. We could eat after the tour!! And at the end of the day, we even saw a moose—up close and personal. I’m already planning a return trip with some friends for next year. And this is a tour everyone should take!!

Booking was easy and we were not charged until the day before the tour. We experienced the cape Breton highlands sights and history through our guide who was born and raised locally into a family who lived there for generations. We recommend this tour if you want to experience local culture, history and sights.

We had an awesome time on our tour today. We originally booked the waterfall tour but due to advice from our guide, Mac, we choose to change up the plan. We got to see so many wonderful views, learned history about the area and heard personal stories as well. We got to go feed some horses and see a few baby cattle (awesome side trip). We also went on some back roads in hopes of spotting a Moose, although we did not see any, it was still awesome as we got to learn a lot about what to look for on our adventures. We also had the most wonderful experience seeing the fall colours changing on the trees over local valleys. We really had a blast, thanks for the memorable trip Mac.

The sights were amazing but Mac’s knowledge of local history and also of the ecosystem really MADE the tour! It was a hugely fun and educational day! Hope to do the fall colours with CBBCA.
