On this two-hour walking tour of central Cardiff we will discuss this journey of Cardiff from Roman outpost to the capital of Wales, which saw the city grow rapidly in size, population and wealth across the nineteenth century in particular. This tour takes in all of the major landmarks of the city centre, including Cardiff Castle, Bute Park, Cardiff Market, the Principality Stadium, and the spectacular Civic Centre.
Discover not only the architecture and history of Cardiff, but the culture and characters of Wales too, from rugby, Welsh food and language, to the iconic figures who have made this country what it is today.

Cardiff Castle
Cardiff Castle's history spans 2,000 years, from roman fort to gothic revival palace. We will discuss its history, unique features and the important families who owned this centrepiece of the Welsh capital.
St. John's is the second oldest surviving building in central Cardiff, a symbol of the original Cardiff village centre. Here we will discuss the origins and evolution of the city we have today from its humble origins to Welsh capital.

5.00We had an absolutely fantastic tour in Cardiff in January with Eugene. The experience was incredibly enjoyable and informative from start to finish. Eugene took the time to explain everything in great detail, answered all of our questions with enthusiasm, and shared so much knowledge about the city and its history. He is a brilliant guide—passionate, engaging, and genuinely interested in making sure everyone gets the most out of the tour. Unfortunately, I was leaving Cardiff that same day and couldn’t join another one of his tours, otherwise I definitely would have. Thanks to Eugene, I truly fell in love with the city and left with a strong desire to come back. I can’t recommend his tours enough!

5.00What an amazing experience!! We have lived in Wales for long time and feel if you want to know about Cardiff then this is the tour to go on. The tour starts at a central location and it is easy to find. He started on time. He covers a good mix of history, landmarks, language, food and culture - in perfect balance. He keeps the audience engaged with questions and general chit chat. It was not too tiring as there were plenty of stops. We have been on lots of walking tours and this is the one that sets standards. The tour itself is free and one can give a donation at the end if one wants. The money people give at the end varies. Eugene does not seem bothered by it. Not paying him for such an amazing experience is silly. Thank you Eugene. Don't change a thing!
