This two hour mountain experience takes you to the top of the mountains of the Cardrona Valley, Wanaka, navigating high country farm and alpine trails on very capable and easy to operate 350cc 4WD Yamaha quad bikes. River crossings, historical gold mining sites from the 1860s gold rush and breathtaking exclusive 360 degree panoramic views await, so be sure to bring a camera! All abilities welcome.

What To Expect

The Cardrona

Opposite the entrance to Cardrona Ski Area, the entrance is also shared with the Cardrona Distillery & Museum and the famous Cardrona Valley "Bra Fence". Look fo the sign that say "HORSE TREKS & QUAD TOURS". Come along the top driveway and you will be greeted by your guide and all our friendly animals.

Cardrona

Mount Cardrona towers to the west and the Pisa Range to the East, which is where you will go exploring by quad bike. The Cardrona river weaves along the valley floor between the two mountain ranges.

We travelled to Cardrona from Queenstown (about 45 minutes by car). Our guide, Summer, was a very experienced rider and made us feel very comfortable about using the quad bikes. We were kitted up with helmets and gloves, given some instruction and then off we went. The pace was really good, stopping at a couple of locations for photo opps. Once you get to the top of the mountain, the way day is really simple (driving on a curated road ... so you get to open the throttle a little!). It is definitely a fun activity for the adventure loving person. As a side note, there is an option to ride with the guide if you do not feel comfortable riding your own quad bike. You do not need to have had any experience riding the bikes, and so the guide monitors everyone and makes sure none are left behind. Once you settle in and get used to them, they are a lot of fun. You do, however, end up with a bit of a sore thumb from holding down the accelerator, but you soon get used to that as well. Definitely recommend for something a little different, if you love a little adventure and the outdoors.

Amazing great time on the quads with Kelly. She was an excellent guide and made the experience so fun and informative. Would have done a second time if we had had the time. Loved it!

Wow wow wow!! This has to be one of the most scenic drives I’ve ever taken. We had an overcast day that made for some awesome photos. Our guide, Hannah, was outstanding and a lot of fun. The time absolutely flew by.
