I went solo and thankfully met some great people in my joined group tour. You definitely need to be a bit fit for this tour and won't help if you got major injuries. WARNING!!!— Nobody talks about how you get stung by little jelly-fish/plankton when you’re swimming/snorkelling with the whale sharks and other species. Almost everyone in my tour group got stung and were left itchy and had bites/scars all over our body for a whole week. I'm still suffering with marks all over my body and itchy as L! Best to wear a long sleeve snorkelling suit or at least a long-sleeve swim shirt with some leggings and swim shoes. They definitely feasted on my skin! Haha and I wasn’t even wearing a bikini. We arrived there at 5:30am and didn’t start till 7am so I ate breakfast by myself and walked around for a bit. No snorkelling gear provided, just a mask for the Oslob whale shark swimming. Would’ve liked it if that was truthful as it said in the description of this tour we are provided with snorkels, not just a mask. We came up really close with them which was great! Although they were just being fed constantly to keep them swimming around us… aha… Best to bring a waterproof phone case to take your own photos and videos underwater, if you ask the guides to get some photos/videos of you, they are great at capturing as I was struggling so much haha the life vest was forcing me to stay up so I took it off so I can dive a bit deeper to see :) The toilets absolutely sucked here as the flush wasn’t working so you had to use a bucket from the sinks to flush. Shower straight afterwards so the plankton aren’t still on you, feasting on your skin!!! Paid ₱600 for ziplining before kawasan falls canyoneering, to get to the hike, otherwise you have to walk 30-40 mins on top of the 1hr30min hike. This was the highlight of my trip! I got to fly superman style!!! Definitely worth it, I’m scared of heights and HATE anything that makes my stomach drop — I was scared but hyped myself up and gaslit myself and it was the BEST thing I’ve ever experienced. My stomach didn’t drop once as I was flying on my stomach! I want to do it again! The kawasan falls canyoneering was great! You can pay ₱800 for a GoPro and the guides we had, (you get your own in your group) were frkn amazing and made me laugh the whole time. I gave mine a FAT tip bc it was so well deserved. I’m so thankful for him. He helped me step on certain rocks when I was struggling with the hike. The hike is SUPER humbling, I thought I was fit but truly I need to be more fit. If you get tired easily or have major health issues, may not be recommended. My knees and ankles were feeling a bit painful at the end of the day/next day due to all the hiking on the rocks. The hiking shoes we were given were like magic I don’t know how they survived at the end. Unfortunately as well, I brought a not-so ‘waterproof’ bag and a lot of my things got wet like my passport, camera and fan which all stopped working :( Make sure if you’re bringing a bag you bring a DRY BAG and a waterproof bag that actually folds down secure and all. The one I got from shein was so poor. Thankfully my guide was holding it the whole time on his vest and whenever he swam in the water he would hold it up.

You get to jump off multiple cliffs into water. Make sure if jumping in backwards, you tuck in your chin and land on your butt as much as you can as it does hurt, but the normal jump in, block your nose and jump as instructed. It’s amazing! I could only jump on the low cliffs as I was scared! Haha my stomach got used to the jumps and it was super fun being strung along in a group when we the guides made us hold each others legs whilst they drag us. Thankful to our driver for driving us to and from such a long way!! Had to tip him as well.
Bring a neck pillow/jumper as the car ride is long to and from and can get cold. So so happy with how this went. One of my highlights on this trip to the Philippines AND A MUST DO when visiting Cebu.

We booked this tour through Klook and had an excellent experience from beginning to end. Everything was well organised, from the early morning pickup to both activities and the final drop-off. Our driver, Rudel, picked us up from the hotel at 2:00am for the whale shark experience. He was punctual, friendly, and very helpful throughout. The whale shark activity itself was fantastic, and the tour company managed everything smoothly. After that, we headed to the canyoneering experience, where our guide Zac was absolutely incredible. He supported us every step of the way and played a huge role in making the experience so enjoyable. Personally, I’m not very confident with water activities and not a confident swimmer, but Zac made me feel safe and comfortable the entire time. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone considering it!

3 hour wait to get on our boat. The area needs better places to entertain tourists while they wait their turn. Too crowded.

The whale shark experience was good. There was one shark being led back and forth across our boat the whole time. The water is pretty full of people and it is a very popular activity. I would prefer 45 minutes I think instead of 30. Cool experience though. Kawasan Falls was incredible! So much fun. I would do that again and again. It is a very long ride from Cebu with the traffic in the city. We had to go through it to get to our hotel on Mactan, but I would rate the falls at 5-stars for sure

  • Kawasan Falls was a definite win!

Kawasan Falls was incredible! Splurge on the private tour option, because the McRich Canyoneering guides made it a spectacular experience. Our team were a load of fun, knowledgeable and environmentally aware, had their eye on safety at all times, and even photographed our entire trek. On-site, opt for the zip line, do all of the swings, and enjoy the BBQ hut break stops. You’ll want sturdy soles on your water shoes for all of the rock scrambling; our trail running shoes did just fine, totally soaked. You’ll get to do 5m jumps into the pools, or go big with the 7m leaps. The Oslob Whale Watch was thrilling to see these gentle giants, yet with environmentally conflicting thoughts as you know these sharks are being fed to endure the crowds. Be prepared for about 3-4hr wait for the 30min experience. So use that time to enjoy a good breakfast and shop a bit. The transfer to the falls takes another couple hours and you’ll be greeted with a fine Filipino lunch before the canyoneering trek. Or, enjoy that lunch at the end of the trek, as we did with the timing flexibility of our private tour.

  • Very dangerous

The whalesharks were amazing!! The trek trough the river was nice but extremely dangerous! No one, not any guide or annyone else in authority told us we needed special shoes. We needed because every trail and step was extremely slippery and you had to hold on for you life or fall a very long way. The river walk was through rocks, most of them sharp and not suited for the shoes we all wore. I fell and I toured my arm. Please wear the shoes they proved or it is a very long and very uncomfortable journey!!

  • Once in a lifetime experience!

This was an amazing experience to have for my birthday! The tour did start off rocky, as the driver who picked us up (at 3am!) was a substitute driver and had very limited information from the tour company. After surviving (and I mean literally) the bumpy, narrow, dark and dangerous road there (for 3 hrs) we had to wait 4hrs for a chance to see the whale sharks. Mind you, we got no updates or information during these 4hrs, so we were actually unsure if we would see them. However, after the very, very difficult start of the tour day, we got to swim right next to the whale sharks and be recorded under water. It was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience that was worth the dangerous drive over and the long wait! Then, after that, we went to the other side of the island (1.5 hr drive), had lunch and went canyoneering! We had no idea what canyoneering was, but found out it was a 3-4 hr tour in the jungle where you could zip line (if you wanted), jump from waterfalls (again, if you wanted) and swim around in the river inside a canyon. This experience was the best part, in my opinion. The natural beauty of the areas was far superior to any area I’ve seen before (even in Hawaii). I absolutely loved this part and our tour guides (one per person) were both amazing. They helped guide us around and carried our belongings above their head the whole time so they wouldn’t get wet! It was a very physical several hours though, so be aware, bring swim attire and I would recommend you bring your own wet shoes as the ones provided will rub your feet raw. Overall, even though our trip started really rough, with the crazy drive and long wait. It was well worth it and we would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Loved it!
