How you help the local community by joining this tour: - On this tour, you meet a local greengrocer, cheesemonger, butcher, and fishmonger, and other family-owned businesses that sell their own Cretan-only products. - Visit one of the last remaining Chania workshops with traditional handmade Cretan knives and hear stories about this tradition by the knife maker. - During this tour, you sample locally-sourced food from Crete’s villages, farmers and stock-breeders.

Food Allergies: Unless you suffer from multiple, combined food allergies, or unless you are a vegan, we will figure it out. Vegetarians are welcome on all tours.

If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides a tip – though not compulsory – is appropriate. Get ready to experience Chania with all your senses! We’ll begin your Chania tour at the Dimotiki Agora (Municipal Market), which denotes the boundary between the old and new town. Established in 1913, the year of Crete’s unification with Greece, the Agora hosts more than 70 family-owned businesses selling mostly local groceries and products. Sample local delicacies while exploring the market and find out why Crete is home to one of the healthiest diets in the world.

After fulfilling your taste buds, we’ll stroll around the old town district by passing through its maze of hidden back streets and narrow laneways, visiting Venetian and Ottoman monuments, and discovering doors to secret gardens! Hear stories, myths, and legends about kings, sailors, merchants, heroes, lovers, and artists. Figure out how this city has been a crossroad between the West and East for centuries! Next, you’ll have the unique chance to see local craftsmen producing their handmade products. Hear their stories — and possibly test your skills! George was an excellent tour guide. I chose this food tour specifically because it included stories. I learned a lot from George on the tour. He combined food options in the “new” city and the old city. We also walked the old city and the port which has lovely, picturesque buildings and narrow alleys. We had lunch at a local restaurant. The food was so good and even though some of the items were the same thing we had in Athens, I generally liked the preparation of dish on Crete better. The pace of the tour was perfect thanks to George. I highly recommend this tour.

A great walking tour. We went to various restaurants and tasted local cuisines. Our guide told us about the foods and store owners gave us more details. We walked around town, given some direction on where to go. Great guide. Very enjoyable tour.

Very nice, interesting and definitively tasty walking tour, taking you to specific places in Chania where you can taste local specialities. While walking through the city, Giannis, our sympatic guide, was given plenty of culinary and historic explanations. We really appreciated this activity and we highly recommend it.

Elena was an amazing guide so full of life and laughter we could not praise her enough. The company was also amazing despite changes to our docking plans nothing was too much trouble for them. The tour itself was better than advertised we thought it would be just snacks but there was so much different food and salads that we were pleasently surprised. The tour comprises both history and food tasting and we could not praise it enough if you ever get to chania in crete then book this tour

Excellent walking tour of old chania with our warm, friendly and knowledgeable guide George. I didn't know Crete had so many native cheeses! The food was wonderful and learning a bit more of the history of the town and island was a great start to our trip

Adonis’s food tour was such a great way to kick off our time in Chania! He did an amazing job sharing the history of the Old Town—how the Venetians, Ottomans, Turks, and Greeks all played a part in shaping the culture and the food. It really helped us see how all those influences came together to make Chania so unique. The food was delicious, and Adonis made everything fun and easy to understand. Great tour! Jannis was very knowledgeable and kind as he walked us through the town. It was very hot that day, so we made sure to have water. The sit-down with Jannis in a small quiet courtyard on the final leg of our tour was the best part. We just said like old friends and talked about everything while eating amazing food and drinking wine. His knowledge about Greek history, politics was fascinating, which made it even more engaging; particularly if you also have historical knowledge and can discuss on an equal level. Super fun and would high recommend it.
