Black and Moon Canyons + Kolsay lake

We accommodate our guests in shared rooms for female and male travelers separately. Private rooms are for additional fee

Uzunbulak Canyon (Moon Canyon)

After pick up, we'll start our journey with the Moon Canyon. The route from the city to this site will take around 4 hours. At Moon Canyon in the Almaty region, you can explore the otherworldly landscape of colorful rock formations, hike along trails to take in the stunning views, and capture incredible photos of the unique scenery.

Charyn Canyon

Next, we'll stop at the Black Canyon to gaze and take photos of the canyon with panoramic view for about 15-20 minutes.

Kolsai Lake

After that we'll arrive at Kolsai lake, where you can relax and savor the beauty of nature around. We'll spend approximately 1.5 hours at the lake so you can take a break & photos and enjoy the view. Then we'll head to the local village Saty where we'll spend the night. Important to note that we accommodate our guests on shared room basis: female and male guests separately. Private rooms are available for additional payment of 20USD. Please contact the manager for the details.

Day 2 starts with the delicious breakfast in the village. After that we'll take a Soviet van to the lake Kaiyndy. At the lake, you can enjoy exploring scenic trails around the lake and capturing the unique sunken forest. After that we'll be heading back to the village to have lunch.

Charyn Canyon National Park

We'll be heading to Charyn Canyon approximately at 16:00. We'll have a short walk at the bottom of the canyon then small hiking to see the stunning view of canyon from above.

My dad and I booked this tour for ourselves. It was a group of 9 people who were super fun and friendly. Our guide Azmat was truly one of the best guides we've had. He was friendly, helpful, and always ready with a story to entertain everyone. It was an incredible 2 days.

What an amazing two day tour! Fariza responded to all queries prior to the tour and went over and beyond all expectations. Azamat, our guide was knowledgeable, engaging and fun! He spent all his time with our tour group including all hikes! So we felt united at all times. There was an abundance of delicious home made food for all our meals. The accommodation in the small village was excellent. It was very clean, warm and welcoming. Absolutely no hesitation in recommending KazViaTours. It deserves every one of its five stars!!

Excellent trip and an efficient - though very well timed - journey to major scenic spots. The pace of the trip allowed for walks, discoveries and even pedal-boating! Out guide Azamat, was always ready to provide information and make things smooth and easy all over the trip. I highly recommend this, especially for young couples or solo visitors.

I loved this tour. The stops were well planned out and the meals were excellent. The guest house was clean and quiet. I am glad I chose the two day tour as it allowed enough time at each site and didn't feel rushed. The driver was safe and efficient. Our guide was Azamat and he was fantastic! He spoke great English and was knowledgeable and a great conversationalist. I would recommend this tour 100%.

I recommend 100% this tour organized over 2 days by Aika our guide. Having tested other agencies, I clearly felt the difference in the quality of the services: - the accommodation and dining places have been carefully selected: the meals are traditional and entirely homemade and our hosts have been lovely. -our guide made sure we had all the necessary information at each location - she animated our downtime to have a very good Mood during these 2 days the value for money is therefore unbeatable Thanks again Aika!

100% best tour ever. Our guide Aika was THE BEST guide. The transport, the accommodation, the food, the organisation. Everything was perfect. We had a group of 17 which was one of her bigger ones but such a great group and felt more like travelling with friends. We were never rushed, felt comfortable all the time. I cannot truely believe how great this trip was. If I come back to Kazakstan I will do another tour with Aika for sure.

We had two remarkable days discovering around Almaty natural wonders. The trip was well organised and we never felt in a rush, the timing was just perfect. The guide is very friendly. Lastly, the food is exceptional. Highly recommended!

The tour was great fun. Our guide was amazing and spoke perfect English. We had time at the Canyon to walk to the river and view point. Also had a couple of hours to enjoy Kolsay lake. Nice dinners and lunches. We stayed in a nice an cosy house for the night. Kaindy lake the next morning and some time at yellow and black canyon. The guide gave us lots of information and we had nice chats with her. Absolutely loved my 2 days.

My husband, our two daughters, and I, were looking for a 2-day small group tour covering Charyn Canyon and the Kaindy and Kolsay Lakes, and after some research, we chose to go with KazViaTours, run by the wonderful Aika and Farzia. It turned out to be a fantastic decision. The tour was incredibly well-organised. The drive was smooth and comfortable in a clean, air-conditioned vehicle, and our driver Adil—who also DJs in Almaty—kept the energy high with a fun mix of Kazakh and international hits. By the time we reached Kurmeti village for our overnight stay, our group—made up of fellow travellers from Romania, the Philippines, and India—already felt like family. The food was hearty and delicious, with good vegetarian options too. What impressed us the most, though, was Aika and Farzia’s knowledge, intelligence, and passion for their work. They were deeply knowledgeable about Kazakhstan’s history, culture, and geography—and impressively well-informed about other countries and cultures as well. Our sparkling post-dinner conversations with them were some of the highlights of the trip. We had a great time, and hope to visit Kazakhstan again. Thank you, Rakhmet.
