Wat Chedi Luang Varavihara Wat Chedi Luang, this temple is the site of an enormous pagoda, originally 280 feet high, and which was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1545. At one time, Wat Chedi Luang housed the revered Emerlad Buddha image now enshrined in Bangkok’s Wat Phra Kaew. One of Wat Chedi Luang’s most striking architectural features is a magnificent Naga staircase adorns the chapel’s front.

The tour guide was very friendly but the tour didn't last the 6 hours we paid for. They picked us up at 8:30 am and by 1 pm we were already back at hour hotel. There was a whole 1:30 hr missing. It felt like they were in a hurry and we kept falling behind because they didn't give enough time to enjoy each temple. At the end we overheard that other people of the group had another tour so thats why they had us ALL in a hurry. Which CLEARLY isn't our fault. We paid for a 6 hr tour and we got a 4:30 hr one. We couldn't buy the souveniers we wanted.

Our guide was so knowledgeable about the history of this area, the temples, and the culture. The chosen temples were beautiful, transportation was super easy and relaxing. Great way to spend the morning in Chiang Mai. (We even booked the night before our tour)

The temples were lovely to visit, unfortunately wat lat was unavailable due to a monk retreat. Through our tour guide should’ve been aware of that however she was able to take us to another temple instead. I would’ve preferred the option to climb up doi suthep but I also understand it was a group activity, let the tour. Doi suthep was very busy but nice to see. Our tour guide ou la la, was kind, always offered to take our picture, and very enthusiastic when giving historical info!

We only got to visit 2 of the 3 temples due to heavy traffic (we opted out since our tour time had already ended before the last temple, but it seemed like they were willing to go over for us) The tour guide was okay. She wasn’t very good at setting time expectations or rallying us all up, so we ended up wandering too long separately and that’s why we weren’t able to make the last temple. Beautiful first temple though:)
