Our mangrove glass bottom kayak & snorkel tour begins at the lovely beach from Lac Cai. The Bonaire Mangrove reserve is located in Lac Bay National Park. Visitors can only enter the mangroves in the company of an experienced nature guide. Your stable, glass bottom sit-on-top kayak is equipped with a comfortable backrest seat, a waterproof bag for your personal belongings and, of course, paddles. Off you go, into the calm waters.
The glass bottom kayak provides an ideal mode of transport in this beautiful and tranquil environment, as you manoeuvre with ease through the mangrove shallows and tunnels.
Gliding by four different species of mangrove trees in crystal-clear waters, paddling past bird habitats and fish spawning areas, you'll learn of the relationship between the plants and the animals. The snorkel location offers a great variety of marine life and is considered by many a must-do while visiting Bonaire!

Be prepared for wet weather. It’s not only possible but likely. Our tour guide was wonderful! He saw sloths in a tree on a highway and had the bus driver pull over safely and let us out of the bus to take photos and videos! He carried a laser pointer which was very helpful when he wanted us to look in a certain area and he was very focused on us seeing as much as possible!

Yuri gave exceptional local input with a dry humor that was very enjoyable. Scenic views and great education on the habitat.

The kayaking part was cool - on the bay and through the mangroves. Glass bottom seemed pointless. The snorkelling part was disappointing. It was in the mangroves instead of out in the beautiful blue bay. Didn't see any interesting fish at all, and that's the part I was most looking forward to).

This was a fantastic experience, kayaking and snorkelling in the Mangroves. Anna was an excellent, knowledgeable guide. Kayaking and learning about the mangroves was a great experience and the snorkelling was very good with many fish to explore.

This is a great piece of Bonaire and especially if you can experience this with a kayak and a snorkel. Our guide Summer is a top performer, she really knows everything about the Mangrove and talks enthusiastically about it. This trip is highly recommended!

The kayaking experience is very cool. It's 2 to a kayak, which means it's a nice activity for couples (I think everyone in our 12-ish person group was a couple). You kayak through a couple tunnels of Mangrove roots and learn about their ecology, which is quite interesting. The bay is absolutely GORGEOUS with the most luscious, striking blues you'll ever see. Near the end of the tour you snorkel through a small path with Mangroves on either side -- definitely a unique snorkeling experience compared to every other snorkel site on the island. HOWEVER be warned if you have a rental car. Kaminda Lac, the 3 mile street that you must drive down to get to the kayaking, is perhaps better described as a dirt path, home to thousands of potholes and with immense flooding near the end. 4x4 pickup trucks could probably do it, but I wouldn't recommend it for any other car. We didn't know how bad the road would be, so we chose to drive ourselves and that was a HUGE mistake. Luckily we parked the car at the Mangrove Center (a small building ~1 mile from the kayak site) and just happened to have the tour company van drive by, and they took us the rest of the way through the worst of the flooding. But absolutely choose the option to be picked up if you don't want to risk damaging your car! All that said, the tour company was extremely accommodating, and we're thankful that they saw us on the side of the road and picked us up.
