What To Expect

Salento

First, meet our skilled and experienced guide in the chosen departure point. He will take you to Salento where your horses will be set and ready for you to ride them. This is where the adventure actually starts. The horses will drive you through viewpoints, stop and stare at the magnanimity of the landscapes. Let our guide tell the stories of the region and everything you need to know to appreciate the place even more. Afterward, you will be ready to go to the Cocora Valley.

The Cocora Valley is a great natural park surrounded by misty green hills and mind-boggling landscapes full of Wax Palm Trees, the Colombian national tree. Its location on the Coffee Triangle and its closeness to Los Nevados Natural Park made them worthy of the UNESCO’s recognition as Coffee Cultural Landscape of Colombia Heritage Site.

First let me preface I planned this trip quite late and was unaware of how popular and crowded this area would be during this weekend. This is basically peak season. Being that said, with the help of the driver and our guide we were able to do everything we wanted to do. The road was congested going into cora but we managed to enter early in the day and complete our hike and take some memorable pictures, I would suggest staying away from the long queue at the photo opportunities, just go to the miradores and take photos off trail. Our guide Jorge was great at navigating the crowds and balancing leisure pace but also moving along. Exiting cocora and driving into salento with all the traffic is hard but with the driver we made the most of it and relaxed in the car en enjoyed the view. We had lunch at a great local spot, food was delicious and fast so we could continue to our horse riding. The horse riding operator Omar was awesome and we had a great ride. We stopped a view point and flew my drone to capture the magic of the mountains. We rode in a river which was a highlight for my kids. Then it was much later than anticipated and we walked around salento, but we really didn't care to go shopping as much but the vibe was great at night (particular during Holiday weekend). Highly recommend this operator super professional and fun.
