More than learning about coffee, you will live it from the inside, in a family farm in the heart of the San Luis Valley, Monteverde. This tour is guided by the Ramirez Brenes family, coffee growers for more than 30 years, who open the doors of their home to share not only the coffee process, but its history, its knowledge and its way of life.
There are no crowds or impersonal scripts here. There are walks between orchids, ficus trees, organic crops and fresh mountain aromas. You will roast coffee with your own hands, visit an old house loaded with memories and taste a cup accompanied by homemade pastries made by Dona Denia, as if you were part of the family.
It is an intimate, authentic and transformative experience. Ideal for those looking for something real: direct contact with nature, the local culture and the soul of Costa Rican coffee.

I lived an authentic experience in a family farm in Monteverde, where you will know the coffee process from plant to cup, in a natural environment full of history and tradition. During an accessible walk along the property’s paths, you’ll learn about coffee varieties, fruit trees, organic crops, orchids, and the impressive ficuses with aerial roots. You will visit an old house where, interactively, you will discover how coffee was produced in the past and how it has evolved until today. All this accompanied by a Costa Rican family who share fondly their lifestyle. At the end, you will enjoy a tasting of handmade coffee with homemade pastries made by Dona Denia, a sweet and typical touch to close with flavor this rural experience.

This was a really unique and wonderful experience! We wanted to experience some of the local culture and we're also coffee lovers, so this was perfect. We found out this is one of very few remaining small coffee farms that operate like this, and they have incredible product. The farm was especially unique since it felt more like a garden, with a variety of other plants and even a waterfall - very picturesque. The tour lead was also incredibly kind and knowledgeable.

If you're truly interested in learning about coffee, growing practices, and the history of coffee, this is the tour for you! Our knowledgeable guide was the brother-in-law of the owner, Victor, and he made us feel so welcome. You could tell the family is passionate about what they do and how they do it without relying on chemicals. Victor's farm was absolutely gorgeous and learning about the intricate thought and care put into the property was inspiring, especially in a world that so quickly resorts to shortcuts in order to chase a profit. During the tour, we were able to learn (sometimes hands-on) about the entire process of growing, harvesting, roasting, and brewing the coffee, as well as the history of those practices. Tasting the coffee at the end while enjoying home-baked bread was just the cherry on top!
