Foro Romano
Just west of the Colosseum is the Roman Forum, which for many centuries was the place where the future of the ancient western civilization was decided. We will also provide you with access to the Roman Forum and you will still be under the careful attention of our expert guide. Although today the Roman Forum stands in ruins, for many reigns it was at the very center of Rome’s activities. It started as a marketplace for daily shopping, but as the power of the Empire grew, it became much more important. In this part of the tour, you will explore the remnants of ancient grandiose temples, bustling marketplaces, and imposing civic buildings. We will also show you the place where Rome first began—on Palatine Hill. Rome’s ancient existence has earned it the name “the Eternal City,” and its time as the ruling city of the lands bordering the Mediterranean Sea has earned it the designation “Capital of the World.”

This was an enjoyable tour, which we primarily booked for the access to the colosseum underground. The guide for the Roman forum portion was knowledgable and moved at a good pace (it was good for our group, but for some others in the tour group, he was walking too fast). We loved seeing the underground, but our guide for that was definitely very slow. I would say that my 4 stars is more for the sites and the access to the underground than for the guides, but they were both very knowledgeable.

Very interesting tour, with a set of friendly guides throughout. Only downside was difficulty in finding the meeting point.

Carmelo gave an extraordinary tour! The tour was beautiful, educational, and delightful. Carmelo was also very considerate of the weather and always found a nice shaded spot for us which was extremely helpful. I highly recommend.

Underground experience is unfortunately rushed. We are only allowed down there for 30 mins. So great to see it but tbh I don’t understand the hype when there isn’t really anytime to see any of the exhibits down there. (What the gladiators wore and the helmets) We then had all levels of the colosseum the walked to the forum. We just have been here 20 mins and then it stopped. Should have been 3 hours long tour but we stopped after 2 hours. It was an incredibly hot day so not sure anyone minded because you have access in the forum all day if you want but that made it a ridiculously expensive tour for 2 hours. Plus the view went to lunch nd then had another tour straight after and I don’t see how he could have done the full 3 hour tour and had a break. So was he over stretched or did the tour company lie about how long the experience was? He didn’t have a long lunch because the guide left before us to get back to the coloseum. Hmmmm. We had 2 families that stopped in the shade a lot. Maybe that’s why the guide finished early. The guide’s English could have been better. He was ok at explaining the facts but understanding questions was more difficult for him.

My partner and I found the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill Half-Day Tour good. We did the Forum first with a fantastic guide, followed by the Colosseum underground tour with another excellent guide. Having visited the Colosseum before, but not the underground, I was underwhelmed, expecting more—guess I saw too many gladiator movies! Sadly we never made it to Palatine Hill, just didn’t have enough time. I recommend this tour for first timers.
