• Unforgettable Damajagua Waterfalls & Monkey Home Tour with an Amazing POP Dominican Tours Team

  We had an absolutely wonderful experience with POP Dominican Travel on our excursion to Damajagua Waterfalls and Monkey Home in Puerto Plata! This was one of the highlights of our trip and such a perfect combination of adventure, nature, local hospitality, and unforgettable memories. Damajagua Waterfalls was beautiful, exciting, and so much fun. The hiking, the clear water, the natural rock slides, and the waterfalls made it feel like a true Dominican adventure. Monkey Home was also a joy — the monkeys were adorable, playful, and such a unique experience. It was a great opportunity to interact with them, take photos, and enjoy something very different from a typical beach day. We especially want to thank Rigo, who coordinated everything so smoothly and made the whole process easy and stress-free. Maria, our driver, was excellent — safe, kind, patient, and professional. And Elier was amazing as our interpreter and professional photographer. He helped us understand everything, made us feel comfortable, and captured beautiful photos so we could simply enjoy the moment. Everything was well organized, personal, and welcoming. We never felt rushed, and we appreciated how much care the team put into making sure we had a great day. This excursion gave us adventure, laughter, beautiful scenery, and memories we will always treasure. We highly recommend POP Dominican Travel to anyone visiting Puerto Plata. Damajagua Waterfalls and Monkey Home are both must-do experiences, and having Rigo, Maria, and Elier involved made the day even better. Five stars all the way!

  Had a great time with our guides and our private photographer. They made us feel safe and cared for. From start to finish it was a great day and we left feeling like part of their family. As for the activities we chose; the waterfalls were so much fun and a unique experience I feel you just must do. A LOT of walking which we were warned about. Cannot emphasize it enough, A LOT OF WALKING (hiking).   We did not really know what to expect heading into this excursion. There was not much information online about the waterfalls but there’s also not much else to do in that area so we signed up for a private tour with Rigo. His driver met us at the cruise port in a comfortable van and drove us about 30 minutes out to the waterfalls. We arrived early by 9 AM which I would highly recommend as the place is very popular and fills up with tour buses and excursions. We had to rent “water shoes “and then proceeded to hike what felt like a mile+ uphill, and then downhill and down some steep ladders. Through the jungle. This part was not conveyed in any information. It was not particularly strenuous, but it was unexpected and the shoes were not exactly adequate for the rocky trail . It you’re going to take this excursion, you might want to bring some good water shoes which are required for going down the waterfalls. They also issue you a life vest and a helmet. I would say it was a good hour from the time we arrived until the time we finally started going down the waterfalls. I believe there are seven waterfalls that go into deep pools so you shoot down rocky and Land in deep water. It’s very fun and something different to do. The whole experience was about three hours by the time we got back to the base camp there we had a nice Dominican lunch in the restaurant. After lunch, our Driver then took us to monkey home, which appeared to be a family run farm, where they had all kinds of animals, cigar, making demonstrations, hot chocolate, and of course, lots of monkeys. We were led into an enclosed area where the monkeys would jump all over us. They have someone with a camera taking pictures and you are also allowed to take your own pictures. After an hour or so here we were back in the van heading back to the cruise port around 2:30 or so. It was a fun day. I highly recommend Rigo and his team. They took great care of us.!
