Avoid Tourist Crowds In Medellin: Comuna 4
Dare to go beyond the tourist-packed streets and delve into the heart of Comuna 4, a Barrio that for decades the government did not recognize, where now authenticity thrives and local stories come to life. Our immersive tour is not just a stroll; it's an intimate exploration led by a passionate guide and a local community leader who grew up in the barrio and who calls this vibrant community home.
What Sets Us Apart:
• Respect: This is not "poverty tourism", quite the opposite, it's an opportunity for locals to show you how proud they are of their barrio.
• Experience: We have been running this experience since 2016, amplifying the voice of the locals and the Transformation of Medellin.
• Knowledge: We are professional tour guides who have lived abroad, and are not satisfied with over-simplified explanations. We explain the Colombian education system, the health care system, the welfare system, and more.

Can’t recommend highly enough to anyone visiting Medillin. What an insight into the community and the amazing people who live there. So fortunate to have such a great guide and wonderful, inspiring community leader for our tour. ‘Well worth’ the cost (and more)!

Couldn't recommend this tour more. An emotional and informative tour following the creation, journey and fight of Moravia that is still going on, told through the first hand experience of a community leader and resident. This is perfect for those who want to see past the tourist attractions and learn about the real community fight of one of Medellín's Comunas.

I had the most beautiful morning here walking around comuna 4 and learning more about Colombian culture and the incredible resilience of its people. I would highly recommend this tour for a much deeper understanding of Medellín than just tourist hotspots.

This tour was one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had while traveling. It was incredibly informative, but what made it truly special was the way Toto guided us through the story of the barrio. His storytelling is engaging, thoughtful, and deeply respectful — he doesn’t just share facts, he builds a narrative that allows you to really understand the place, its history, and its people. A highlight for me was meeting Heroína, a local community leader whose life story is profoundly inspiring. She shared her journey in her own words — from working as a child collecting garbage to becoming someone who actively empowers her community and supports children’s education. Listening to her felt like witnessing real strength, resilience, and transformation. She is, without a doubt, a local hero. What I appreciated most is that this is not just a tour — it’s a form of conscious, ethical tourism. It supports local initiatives and gives something back to the community, rather than just turning it into a place to “consume” as a visitor. If you care about traveling in a more meaningful and responsible way, I cannot recommend this experience enough. Use the privilege of being able to travel for something good — this is exactly the kind of experience that makes it possible.

An amazing experience if you want to hear the story of the people of Medellin especially of comuna 4! Toto was really well capabel of transmuting all the pain and resilience of the neighbourhood in a way that feels inspiring. Accompanied by an elder community leader Abuela Gladis (that Toto real takes care of and respects) I not only heard the story but also felt it. Thank you guys so much, and keep fighting for what you are doing

I would highly recommend this tour if you want to learn about the people who came to Medellin. These resilient people are an inspiration . This tour is a respectful journey into their history and today . An opportunity to visit their community that was built on a rubbish dump originally. Exploring and talking with Todo and Gloria was an amazing experience

This tour really gave a huge insight into the lives of people living in communa 4, Toto led the group with pride, compassion and empathy. He has an excellent manner and ability to explain and portray the anguish and struggles of the past, and what the hopes are for the future. His absolute love, support and admiration for Gloria a leader in the communa shone through, he realky treated her with the dignity and respect she rightly deserves. A truely moving and humbling tour.
