Costa Rica Descens Organic Farm

The opportunity to witness agriculture in action is a rarity nowadays. To experience where our food is grown rather than to watch it arrive at supermarkets is the point of our farm tours. Our farmers are happy to work with you to design a farm tour that fits into your group’s focus.

We are happy to share our farm with you in a way that meets the interest of your group. Sample group tour focuses are below to give you an idea of what a farm experience can offer.

Local food production and distribution, with an emphasis on seasonality, what crops grow when, and how we distribute them.

Medicinal Plants; Explain the traditional medicine practices since prehistoric times. Plants synthesise hundreds of chemical compounds for functions including defence against insects, fungi, diseases, and herbivorous mammals.

Rafting down Balsa Lake with Alejandra was a blast.. it was very scenic. The tour guides are great fun and there were a variety of interesting things along the way .. They served us amazing fruit and at the end we had a great meal with coffee at the end ... I'd highly recommend.. Pura vida!!

Everything was so incredibly chill- it was just me and my husband for the cooking class. We made some great Costa Rican local cuisine and had a really great time just chilling and shooting the breeze with our guide. He gave us some really amazing insights on food and culture. Can’t recommend enough!
