Once in Norway you cannot leave without trying our national sport!
This trip is a skiing course, conducted in a scenic surrounding and relaxed atmosphere for the ones who have never tried cross country skiing before or still lack basic techniques.
We ski in flat terrain, mostly on prepared trails on the top of Tromsøya island, only 5 minutes drive from the city center.
At first we teach basic techniques and begin to ski in a flat area.
By the end of the tour you can challenge yourself on small hills and you should be able to practice your new skills on your own later on.
Public transportation options are available nearby
Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
Suitable for all physical fitness levels
IMPORTANT: Please advise shoe size (european) in the special requirements field at check out. If you fail to provide this information your booking may be cancelled.
In case we have no snow in the area alternative activity or full refund of the tour costs will be offered.
As the weather can change rapidly in Northern Norway to join this tour it is obligatory to wear warm and windproof clothes. Winter clothes are not included in the price of the tour, but can be rented separately at our rental center upon prior arrangement.
From mid-February onward the sun can be surprisingly strong, especially because of the reflecting snow, so we recommend you also bring sunglasses and sun cream with you.

This is your perfect opportunity to learn to cross-country ski in a scenic and relaxed environment. Your professional ski guide will teach you the fundamentals from the ground up, starting with the essentials like how to use your ski bindings, how to fall "the right way" to avoid injury, and—most importantly—how to get back up on your own. From there, you will practice how to walk, run, and glide with your skis on prepared, flat trails. After gaining some practice, you'll get the chance to challenge yourself on small hills, learning the techniques to walk up and safely slide down. After this tour, many of our guests feel confident enough to rent skis and continue practicing on their own. It's great fun at all times!

The cross-country skiing course was wonderful and so much fun! Our guide was Felix. After a short 10-minute drive to the city park, we started right away with our first attempts on the skis, along with clear explanations, helpful tips, and techniques from Felix. Halfway through the session, we enjoyed a warm drink and some cookies. A very welcome break. One of the absolute highlights was cross-country skiing across a frozen lake. We had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the experience.

I had an absolutely wonderful time with this ski lesson! I have never even touched a ski before and felt confident by the end of the class. The atmosphere was lighthearted and supportive, so many of us found it funny rather than frustrating when we fell (several times for me!). My instructor (I unfortunately do not recall her name) was warm, patient, and funny and paced the lesson perfectly for first-timers. The hot black currant juice provided during the outing was also fantastic! I had a great time and am now looking forward to the next time I try to cross country ski.

We had a great introduction session with Mathieu. He was easy to chat to and gave us just enough information, as well as freedom to progress, as we were able to. The blackcurrant tea and tasty snacks were an added bonus!

Was a fun, fantastic day & introduction to skiing. Joana Was an excellent guide/instructor. Very patient and friendly. Halfway through the activity, we stopped for some Solbærtee (blackcurrant tea) which was absolutely delicious. Dress for cold weather but you will get very hot as skiing can be quite physically demanding. Would definitely recommend 10/10

Heli was such an incredible instructor and made learning how to cross country ski really easy and fun. For someone that's never put a ski on their life, it's definitely made me want to do it more. 10/10 would do it again and thank you Heli!

A brilliant experience learning to ski in Norway. I had never been skiing, but Marta was incredibly kind, patient and helpful. A lot of fun if not a little scary initially, and the lefse was a great treat at the end too!
