Do this tour with Mani, especially if you like history and/or want to understand the culture you are visiting. The Copalita site is good and could be amazing with some more time and investment. You can self-tour, but I do not recommend that. Mani does a great job of explaining the site, how it functioned, and the importance of the Zapotec culture. That makes it infinitely more informative and interesting!

Mani was knowledgeable and engaging. Highly recommend his culturally and historically interesting tour of the Copalita ruins. So much so, we booked his waterfalls tour on the spot! ❤️

Manuel was very knowledgeable about the history of the Zapotec culture. He had thought provoking statements regarding cultural beliefs which had you leaving the tour wanting to be a better person! The tour was seamless from start to finish. His communication regarding pickup and tour expectations was perfect. All around an excellent tour. Much better to go with a certified guide than stare at something you know nothing about on your own!

Today I had e great visit to the archeological site at Copalita. It was very special to go with Mani. He kindly took time as I was walking a bit slowly. He explained so much of the culture of the Zapotec people and even how all of the original cultures of Mexico are related in their history. The area is quite wild so we saw birds, and lizards. Also a spot where there is a beautiful view over the ocean. Thank you Mani. You are a very comfortable person to be with. Thank you for sharing so much for my inquisitive mind.
