  • Highly recommended!

This was an excellent and informative experience. My family and I visited a homestead in a small village near Vic Falls. They described their typical day, lifestyle and how they are balancing their traditional culture with today’s world. Also they showed us how they are being innovative on alternative energy and girls’ education projects. Highly recommended!

  • Fascinating eye-opener to life in Zimbabwe

Our visit to the village of Monde was a fascinating eye-opener to life in Zimbabwe. Only 15 minutes away by car, Monde feels like another world compared with the tourism bubble of Vic Falls. We had a fascinating hour or so with the head of a family homestead who explained aspects of farming life, the culture of the local ethnic groups and how the cow manure biogas system works. Then we visited a school where the kids were lovely but the resources were sorely lacking. Tip: buy groceries to take as gifts (your guide can advise) and be prepared to be asked for a cash donation to the school. Also consider taking clothes you may no longer need - it will help the local people and lighten your bags for the journey home!

  • Lots to learn from this tour

This tour gave us a great insight into village life. Molitha was a lovely lady - so friendly and happy to answer all our questions and honestly describe the difficulties she can sometimes face. The school visit was equally informative and the children were so polite, enthusiatic and smiley.

  • Worst Viator Ever - Worthless "Guide"

This was the worst Viator we have ever had. Description of the 20 min ride to and from village was only thing that was accurate. From pickup back to our room was 1 hour total, even though the touir description was that it was to last approximately 3 hours! We had a young woman show us some of the village. No details on their daily life, nothing about ceremonies, nothing about chiefdom's roll, never offered to visit school (weather was perfect). Not offered anything regarding meals or activitieds in village. Only "activity" displayed was making a single mud brick for a new hut being built. Our "guide" who drove us to/from village spoke limited english, couldn't answer any questions (even what we would be doing/seeing on the tour), didn't go with us through the tour, and was silent for most of the ride to/from the village, unless we attempted to ask a question (that was not answered). We were never offered even a bottle of water from the driver/guide. This had the potential to be a great tour, to learn about the local people and their lives. We looked forward to this tour especially as we sponsor a little boy from Zambia (similar culture).

So interesting and much fun was had stamping mielies into flour. If you want to more then I definitely recommend this tour. • Awesome family experience!

Our tour guide stopped in a homestead in a nearby village. We were immediately welcomed and offered a seat. The head of the family led the informal tour and he was packed with knowledge to share. We learned about everyday life including water retrieval, cooking, washing, showering, schooling, cultural ceremonies, etc. We were invited in to each part and encouraged to take photos and ask questions. We were also invited to learn how to weave a basket and make corn meal. We learned so so much about the advantages and disadvantages of this way of life. One of the best things we have done in our 3 week trip to Africa.

It was very cool to see how some of the African villagers live. We got some great photos and met a very nice woman. I would recommend this.
