What To Expect

Custer State Park

We drive through the Custer State Park Wild life loop to see the buffalo herds and other animals. We make a comfort stop by the State Game Lodge area at Coolidge Inn Store or the Visitor Center. Then we drive to the Needle’s Eye Highway and Cathedral Spires granite formations, and over the Iron Mountain Road with pigtail bridges and tunnels that frame Mt. Rushmore. We will stop so you can buy your lunch at one of the Custer State Park Resort dining rooms, then we drive back to Rapid City.

We have driven Needles Highway and Wild Life Loop in Custer so many times and it is always amazing…. The scenic views, the hikes along the way and the wild life. The overlooks all offer scenic views of the needles and cathedral spires. You have to drive the loop through Custer to experience it all.

Perfect way to spend the day! Small intimate tour with the best views. Ann was extremely knowledgeable about everything in the area. She knew all the shortcut roads with the best views. It was like traveling with a family friend. Perfect day!
