Row the Darwin Route with Patagonia Dreams
I lived a unique expedition along the Santa Cruz River, recreating part of Charles Darwin’s mythical journey in Patagonia. We set off in 4x4 on Route 40 to the river, where, after a technical talk, we began kayaking downstream between geological formations and native fauna.
After a 15 km journey, an outdoor lunch awaits us at Estancia Río Bote, by the river. An experience that combines history, adventure and nature at its finest.

What To Expect
El Calafate
The day starts when we pick you up in El Calafate in 4x4 vehicles. We head to the Charles Furh Site, located 40 km from the city. Upon arrival, our guides will welcome you with an introductory talk on rowing activity and basic principles. While you perform some heat entry exercises, we will prepare the equipment to begin the journey.

All in all, we begin kayaking along the Santa Cruz River, paddling approximately 80 minutes along 15 km. Along the way, you will cross an unspoilt landscape, in the heart of the Patagonian steppe, an area very little explored and of silent beauty.

5.00Amazing experience!! Ruben, our guide, is super experienced and led us throughout the entire route!! Simply unmissable!! And at the end there is a wonderful lunch on the riverbank with starters, salads, a super chorizo steak and wine!!! I highly recommend it!!!

5.00Ruben was the perfect guide/instructor for us as complete beginners to fresh-water kayaking. He was patient when we made mistakes and the route he prepared was breath-taking. After we got out of the river, a very good lunch and plenty of wine were served in the great Patagonian outdoors which was a fantastic experience in itself. Would definitely recommend.

5.00We made the crossing with Ruben Valle and his team! Better experience we couldn't have had. He's a fantastic and funny guy! He knows how to do so that until they know nothing about Kayak they can spend a beautiful day by the Santa Cruz River. With a beautiful landscape , after rowing they wait for you with a dive and food! Definitely the best thing about this Calafta trip

5.00Beautiful experience for all audiences, at the end of the tour they wait for you at the riverside with an incredible grilled lunch, you see many local animals, the guys of the team very good vibes, super recommended!
