we will meet at your hotel and we will start walking to hudud lodge, we will have the chance to see the Gelada Baboon and different birds and we will have lunch at Hudad Lodge and we will spend more minutes there and on the way back we will see the monastery church of Asheton. after visiting the church and admiring the scenrey we will return to Lalibela.

I had an exceptional day with my very cordial and knowledgable guide Maereg. He is well informed and knows a lot about the flora, fauna, history, culture of Lalibela and Ethiopia in general. I had an extraordinary time, learned a lot and hat a little insight into the lives of the people around Lalibela. Therefore, I can highly recommend a tour with this superb guide.
Trip to Hudad Eco-Lodge and gelada baboons watching. High quality IG content! ;)

We spent a couple of days in Lalibela having great time there but this particular day was just unbeatable. The hike up to the top is not that exhausting what makes it available even for less professional hikers. Views on the way are spectacular but everything you see once you get to the Lodge is truly breathtaking. It’s just pure roof of Africa with picturesque landscapes, vivid colors, and number of wildlife species. We spent there a couple of hours (you can also overnight) chilling out, taking hundreds of photos and having nice lunch and coffee. But the cherry of the top was definitely group of gelada baboons hanging out alongside. It was our dream to see these unique animals in their natural habitat and we managed to do so as they were feeding just a few meters away. We were very lucky having Maereg as our guide as he was not only professionally experienced to lead the hike but was also interesting person to spend time with. He is well oriented in local flora and fauna so you can ask him any question and he will be happy to give you very detailed information. He is also very fluent in English what makes the communication much easier (we had different experiences with guides in Ethiopia before). If you wanna spend a day or two in Eden on earth you have to go to Hudada eco-lodge with Maereg. And don’t worry if you are poorly equipped as Maereg takes pictures with his hi-tech cameras so he can share them.

I had an amazing day trip to the churches of Lalibela with my guide Maereg. Maereg is an exceptional guide who helped make my tour extremely enjoyable. He is very knowledgeable and helped give me a great understanding of the history and culture of Lalibela, Amhara and Ethiopia. Maereg is a really nice guy who was very friendly and helpful. I hope one day to return to Lalibela and I recommend that anybody who goes to Lalibela should use Maereg as their guide.
