Just 70 Km from Samarkand, and you have a chance to visit Penjikent, town in Tajikistan, where you may visit Ancient Penjikent - ruins of old Sogdian town founded in 5th century and abandoned in the 8th century by Arabs. Foundations of houses, a citadel with a couple of Zoroastrian fire temples and city bazaar are visible in the excavated ruins and Sarazm ruins - one of the ancient settlement in Central Asia with 5500 year civilization. In 2010 Sarazm was added to the list of Human heritage by UNESCO.

08:00 Meet with our driver in your hotel and transfer to Uzbek - Tajik border (40 km) 09:00 Arrival Uzbek - Tajik border pass. Pass the border. Meet by Tajikistan staff and transfer to Penjikent (30 km, 30 min) Arrival and start excursion program in Penjikent: - Museum of Rudaki – As Penjikent is a birthplace of Abu Abdallah Rudaki, considered by many to be the father of Persian Poetry. Before lunch we'll visit local bazaar and mosque. Lunch in a traditional Chaikhana, for the lunch you will a chance to taste Plov cooked according to Penjikent recipe. - Ancient Penjikent - ruins of old Sogdian town founded in 5th century and abandoned in the 8th century by Arabs. 5.00Just back from Tajikistan.What an experience.Was in communication with Zukraha and her team for a month before.Literally dropped at the border in Uzbekistan and picked up right on the other side in Tajikistan.My daughter and myself were treated like royalty the whole time,and what an experience for the both of us.The whole trip was professionally handled and I can’t recommend Anur tours highly enough.Best money I have ever spent on a tour and life long memories to go with it.kieran j

5.00The Tajikistan experience was 💯 percent worth it. My driver Farrukh picked me up from the hotel and drove me to the border. He was very kind and I felt safe in his car. Then I walked through the border and Bobojon, my Tajik guide and driver, was awaiting me on the Tajikistan side. Bobojon was very friendly, knowledgeable, and spoke English fluently. He took me through the bustling Bazaar then on to the 7 Glacial Lakes of the Fann Mountain Range where the color of the water was some of the bluest I have ever seen. The mountains villages with the kids and animals were incredible. We stopped at Lake 6 for a picnic where I washed my grapes in the water from the river and I shared my lunch with a cow. I waded in the water at Lake #6 as well and no tourists were around. The entire experience was awe-inspiring, humbling, and just a fantastic experience that you can’t miss. I would recommend this tour to anyone who would like to experience the best of Tajikistan in one day and if you have an extra day, stay overnight in one of the mountain guesthouses or camp under the stars. I can’t wait to go back.

5.00Thank you, Avantour (Ms Olga) for making this trip possible is two days notice. I want to commend (Umarjon) our tour guide yesterday on the excellent job he did. Although there wasn't much to see of great beauty on the tour, the guide was very interesting, answered all our questions about Tajikistan, and left us wanting to return at another time to do a longer tour with him. The timing at each stop was perfect, and he didn't pressure us to buy anything or take us to tourist traps, which was wonderful. His English was impecable, and we had no problem understanding each other. I highly recommend this tour.
