Marche Kermel
The Kermel Market is a colonial-style building recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site , very beautiful building from 1860 which was destroyed by fire in 1994, and rebuilt identically in 1997. The Kermel Market is still excellently preserved. You can see lots of bright colors inside and outside the building. The market provides beautiful fresh products, typical of Senegal. Market gardeners, grocers, butchers and fishmongers are at the heart of the building, surrounded by decoration vendors, artists and artisans.

Amadou was great! He picked me up from my hotel early so that we can make the Ferry on time. Elijah gave a great tour of Gorée Island. Very personal 1 on 1 attention. Amadou gave me a great history lesson on Dakar and Senegal. At Gorée Island, Elijah walked me through the slave mansion and through the town. He talked about what it was like growing up on the island, and gave a real life history lesson on what our ancestors faced while captive on the island. This tour was life changing. I would give 5 stars, but the site won’t allow me.

We could not have asked for a better first day in Dakar! This was our first trip to Senegal and Amadou was such an amazing guide and first person to introduce us to the amazing city of Dakar. We learned, laughed, and saw so much of the city. Visiting Gorée Island was a true highlight of our trip. We enjoyed our time with Amadou so much we booked a second tour with him later in our stay. Our boys (ages 15 and 11) said the tours with Amadou were the highlights of our trip!

I only had 1 day in Dakar with my family. We had an amazing experience with Agsil Senegal. The welcoming atmosphere and attentive guides made us feel right at home. They kept in touch with me from day 1. Amadou, in particular, was very patient with our kids, knowledgeable of the history, time-oriented to make sure we covered as much as possible. I felt very connected with the enthusiasm he had when giving us the history of Dakar. He also accommodated all my special requests. Highly recommended

Amazing tour! Traveled solo but never felt solo. If you are in Dakar, this trip covers all of the tourist attractions in the city, plus, the beautiful island of Goree. Thank you for a well organized tour.

I think the tour gives a comprehensive view of both Dakar and Goree Island. Goree in and of itself is a must if you are ever in this part of the world; the island is a historical reminder of the perils Africans faced during the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Overall, I felt safe, heard, and understood, while also seeing the major tourist sights in Dakar.

Disappointing tour for a hugely inflated price. I took the tour while the ship I was on was in port. The guide had individual sheets of paper for every passenger so couldn't even manage to hold them all up at once. Why not get a board and write all names on it? I and another lady were told to wait while he located other attendees. Ages later, someone from Agsil asked where our guide was. How should we know? Turned out he set off without us. We were put on another bus with an equally useless guide, and the dire organisational skills of Agsil meant we missed the ferry to Gorée Island that we were meant to take so spent another hour sitting waiting for the next one. Once we arrived at the island, I asked if we could wander around and meet back at the ferry, but he insisted we stay together. What a waste of time! He gave us ages at places we didn't need masses of time and skipped others, and he regularly disappeared so we had no idea where he was. Eventually I and others wandered off so we could see the place, and we met up at the ferry. Once we disembarked in Dakar, he decided we didn't have time to see all the places on the itinerary, so we drove past some and skipped others, stopping only to take photos at a monument and mosque. AN APPALLING WASTE OF €190.
