We were so happy we discovered Scoot around Rome, which despite the scooter-evoking name, also offers many car trips to sites outside of Rome in addition to scooter tours around Rome. Owner/driver Simone—who timely replied to all of our communications, and provided confirmations and information before and during our trip—took us to Florence, the Appian Way/Viaducts/Castel Gandolfo area, Tivoli and Umbria, and transferred us to our cruise in Civitavecchia. He was flexible about adapting his recommended itineraries, and he was always on time and 100 percent reliable. His expert ability to navigate challenging traffic inside and outside Rome continually impressed us. We also were entertained by Italian driving culture as he emoted about other drivers, usually in Italian, but occasionally in English, such as the time he said that a driver who unnecessarily delayed moving forward when the light changed to green near a church was “waiting for an angel to help her cross the street.” Parking can be challenging and expensive for drivers in Rome and Florence, so you need to make sure you always make the agreed-on meetup time at the start of and end of, and throughout, your tours. Each day, once we arrived at our day-trip destination, Simone gave us a cellphone containing his Italian number so that we could reach him, provided information on things to see, including background information, and restaurant recommendations for lunch, and even took some photos of us. We decided to enjoy sit-down lunches in the Castel Gandolfo area and Tivoli, and the restaurants Simone recommended and booked for us were incredible, with outside tables, great views and great food. We feel fortunate that we discovered Simone for our tours in the Rome area, and would be sure to choose him if/when we’re in Rome in the future.

Villa Adriana & Villa d'Este. A very educational and good experience. We were extremely pleased with our driver/guide, Simone. He is very energetic and knowledgeable, speaks English fluently. He gave that extra bit which really elevates service. I would confident recommend him to my close friends,

We had a blast travel experience with Scoot around Rome, Simone is a great, well experienced and knowledgeable travel planner, he not only helped us to arrange our trip details, also a driver and tour guide to us, this was our first family trip with two teenagers in Italy, with Simone’s help, we were able to see the beautiful scenery and many historical sites, the trip is magic, will definitely come back with Simone other trips! Highly recommended!

Simone made this day beyond expectations! It was awesome and one of the greatest days seeing two UNESCO sites. He is a fantastic driver and explains history well. He responds quickly to reach him and made the day seamless from pickup to drop off. His lunch recommendations are spot on. It was a day chock full of amazing things to see and with Simone the day was calm. He gave us plenty of time at each site and we just contacted him when we were done. We will definitely do his other tours and recommend him highly. He made this tour a highlight of our trip and a great memory.

This private tour with Simone ended up being one of the standout days of our family trip to Italy. From the beginning, he came across as warm, personable, and very knowledgeable. He picked us up directly from our Airbnb which made logistics simple and helped us feel relaxed right away. The car was spotless and comfortable, the air conditioning worked well as the day heated up and he even brought along a small pocket Wi‑Fi so we could stay connected and reach him easily! We started early at Hadrian’s Villa and were among the first people through the gate. Having the site so quiet and uncrowded made it feel almost surreal. Simone showed up with a local pastry called maritozzo for breakfast, plus cold drinks in the car, which felt like an extra little treat rather than something standard. As we walked, he mixed history, anecdotes, and local insight in a way that kept all of us engaged and he answered every question with patience. The pacing of the day was excellent. We never felt rushed, and he gave us plenty of time to wander both Hadrian’s Villa and Villa d’Este on our own when we wanted. At one point he brought us to a beautiful viewpoint by a waterfall that was perfect for family photos. When we mentioned lunch, he quickly arranged a last‑minute reservation at Ristorante Sibilla. We ended up with a table on the terrace overlooking the Sibilla ruins, and the whole meal felt like something we never would have pulled off on our own. In the afternoon we strolled through the gardens and fountains at Villa d’Este (again, without feeling pressed for time). Simone was clear about meeting points and timing throughout the day, so there was never any stress about where to go next. What stood out most was how much effort he put into the small details. He seemed to anticipate what we might need before we even asked and did it all with genuine kindness. We left with great memories and agreed that booking with Scoot Rome Tours, and specifically with Simone, was one of the best choices of our trip. If you want a guide who combines local expertise with thoughtful, attentive service, ask for Simone. Our only regret is that we did not have another day in Rome to spend touring with him!!

If you want to see all of Villa Adriana and Villa d'Este at your own pace, instead of being rushed around and only seeing highlights on a coach trip, book with Simone. He was very welcoming, never rushed us, and even surprised us with local pastries. This trip has a personal touch, and both villas are worth seeing.

I was returning to Tivoli for the first time in 40 years, with a friend who had never been there. Having Simone as our personal driver made the experience even more special. He picked us up at our hotel and entertained us with stories of Rome and its history as we left the city - a welcome break from the museums, churches and urban bustle. We spent a leisurely day at our own pace, visiting both breathtaking sites, with a break for lunch at a gluten free restaurant Simone found for us. If you come to Rome, take a day to visit Villa Adriana and Villa D'Este - and be sure to book Simone to take you there!

Simone made our trip to Tivoli a delightful, stress-free day. His knowledge of Rome and Tivoli really enhanced our experience. He gave us clear instructions as to our meeting places at each location, made lunch reservations for us at a terrific family-run trattoria near Villa d’Este, and pointed out interesting features of the surrounding area as we drove along. All this, and we never felt rushed. He is cheerful and warm, a genuine delight to be with. We couldn’t have asked for a better service.
