What To Expect
Tiya World Heritage Site
The tour starts with a pick up from airport or your hotel, and then drive to Tiya Stelae. This full day excursion southwest of Addis Ababa gives visitors the chance to visit archeological sites as well as the intact rock-hewn church of Adadi Mariam. Believed to be constructed the famous king Lalibela.
Melka Kunture
At Melka Kunture Archaeological site we have a chance to see (nearly 2 million year old) discovered fossils of prehistoric age . The Stone tools in the area dating 1. 5 million years old.

4.00Only booked tour day before. Started an hour late. Then they tried to get to swap it to a city tour. I told them no and we set off on the adventure. My guide Asmir was very helpful and knew a lot about the places. As the roads are bad it takes 2.5 hrs to get there and same back but great to get out of the city.

5.00Was a very nice and relaxing trip. Everything was done without rush but on-time. Especially enjoyed seeing the countryside.

3.00The tour was good but the vehicle used was run down and not air conditioned as promised hence we suffered through the heat and dust on the trip. We even had a flight tire which was fixed while we waited in the vehicle.

5.00Absolutely wonderful experience. The guide, Gebu, was extremely knowledgeable. . Gebu made sure I was comfortable, we had wonderful conversation about the country, he was very smart, and the driver did an excellent job. Seeing the sites was a real education.

5.00Friendly, very considerate driver and tour guide. 2 rare historical sites. Long drive overall, providing some interesting insights into the countryside and rural livelihoods and lifestyle of Ethiopians outside the capital. All-inclusive service included water, snack and lunch.

5.00It was eye awakening! First of all, Kiros was an amazing driver. Our tour guides were all amazing and Deme took us on an awesome tour. Experiencing a day in Adadi Mariyam, Tiya and best of all the Melka Kunture was a once in a lifetime experience. We got to see a world outside of Addis. I would say to anyone visiting Addis go on this tour and see and experience life outside of your own. Great tour overall!
