The Pitch Lake
After an approximately 1 hour drive through Central Trinidad, where the diverse cultures and landscapes are clearly visible, you will reach the asphalt lake near the village of La Brea . Pitch Lake is the largest natural bitumen deposit in the world with an estimated 10 million tons. It is located in La Brea in southwestern Trinidad and is part of the Siparia Regional Corporation. The lake covers an area of about 0.405 km2 and is said to be 76.2 meters deep.
Temple in the Sea at Waterloo
The temple was built by an Indian forced laborer named Siewdass Sadhu. Under British rule, the East Indians were not allowed to pray on British land. Out of strength and pure devotion Sadhu built the temple in the sea, since no man could claim the sea for himself and therefore no one could stop him once it was there.
