A group of us booked this tour together during our Mediterranean cruise. The transportation from the port to Olympia was straightforward, and the guide offered a lot of information about ancient Greek culture during the ride. Once at the site, we walked through several sections of the ruins while hearing about how the Olympic Games originally began. After the main tour, we had some leisure time which we used to visit the nearby museum and browse a few local shops.

Our group included several family members of different ages, so we needed a tour that wasn’t too rushed. This one worked reasonably well because the walking pace was comfortable and there were breaks along the way. The guide explained the history of Olympia and the origins of the Olympic Games in a way that everyone could understand. After the guided portion, we had some time to explore on our own and enjoy the surroundings before heading back to Katakolon.

We visited Olympia with our teenage children during our cruise stop. The guide managed to keep the explanations interesting, especially when describing the history of the Olympic Games and how athletes competed in ancient times. Seeing the stadium was probably the highlight for our kids. The leisure time afterward gave us a chance to explore a bit more slowly and take some family photos around the ruins.

My spouse and I enjoy visiting historical locations when we travel, so Olympia was an important stop for us. The tour provided a clear overview of the archaeological site and its significance in Greek history. The guide pointed out several temples and structures that we might not have noticed on our own. Having some free time afterward allowed us to revisit a few areas and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

As someone traveling alone, I found this tour to be a convenient way to visit Olympia from the cruise port. The meeting point was easy to locate, and the schedule seemed well planned for cruise passengers. The guide explained the history of the site clearly and answered questions from the group. I especially enjoyed walking through the ancient stadium and imagining what it must have been like during the early Olympic competitions.
