Apollonia Archaeological Park
Apollonia was founded near the Vjosa river in 588 BC from greek colonies of Corfu and Corinth. The area was also inhabited by the Taulantii tribe, the local Illyrian tribe that for centuries lived along with the Greek colonies. Apollonia was one of the 30 cities built in honor of Apollo goodness, the goodness of Sun, poetry, and music. Soon it became an important port full of life.

2.00On our way to Vlorë, we stopped at the Appollonia site in Fier. As almost everywhere in Albania, the people at the entrance were very nice, smiling and pleasant and wished we could access the site. However, on the one hand, access with a wheelchair is very (too) difficult since no possibility to access with e.g. a path over stones for PMRs (people with reduced mobility) is provided. And on the other hand, beyond the obvious and despite the official and international proof by card exposing the disability of the person who accompanied me, no discount was granted to him. Working in commerce myself, I understand the pecuniary necessity to run a site like this. But I also know that as a child, a student or a pensioner, access is different. If so, why can’t someone who has not chosen to be physically impaired have some benefits? I must say that I would have preferred to have been told directly that it is not possible (at the moment) to access this site in a wheelchair instead of saying to me "Of course, come in! It costs so much, but madam won't be able to see anything and you will have done your fitness session for the next 6 months." In short, I would have the opportunity to see this site on a future visit to Albania, but remains a little frustrated with this apparent kindness which for the moment meant too clearly that it was the dollar I represented that was interesting.

5.00Very part of museum and all the places around the temple are fascinating, very beautiful. You could do a lot of special photos there.
