The Zubara Fort – Qatar’s first UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE is well known as an archaeological landscape. Until this day, teams of archaeologists are having on going excavations to develop and maintain its legacy. We then continue tovVisit a traditional Qatari village with houses made of limestone & mud and in while at Al Shamal, you can see Bahrain on clear days.

What To Expect
Al Khor
Also spelled Al Khawr means "sea on threesides" in Arabic. Older than Doha but far smaller in size. Al Khor is located an easy 50 kilometres to the north of Doha. It used to be the center of the pearling industry in Qatar but lost its importance after the introduction of cultured pearls. It now boasts a scenic harbour where you can find traditional fishing dhows, a corniche leading to mangrove colonies and a museum showcasing the fishing, pearling and dhow building industries.
Purple Island - Al Khor Island
A serene island set amidst nature beyond Al Khor is the Purple Island abundant of mangroves and lush greenery. This island brings you an opportunity to reconnect with nature away from the hustle-bustle of the city. 5.00The guide who was originally assigned did not turn up. I called the company and Rehan, the replacement guide, turned up at a short notice. He was very professional and knowledgeable about the history and pointed out all the sights along the way. It was a bad start but Rehan saved the day.

5.00It was the half day tour I had booked. My tour guide Rehan was excellent. He picked me up in time and showed me the tour highlights with much expertise. He was a friendly guy to talk to. We exchanged a lot of issues from every day life in Qatar to cricket, his favourite sports. What is more he gave me some extra time to explore the different spots on my own. That gave me time to make pictures as many I wanted. A great thanks to Rehan!
