We start our tour of Riyadh by visiting the primary custodian of the Saudi national heritage and culture, the National Museum. Today it is a place of learning and discovery that hosts a unique collection of artefacts and covers the whole history of the Arabian Peninsula up to the modern era. After this, we continue to the nearby Murrabba Palace that used to be the royal residence where King Abdulaziz hosted his court. The palace was named after its square 40 by 40 meters shape and is now one of the city’s major museums. Adjacent to the palace, a modern building hosts a collection of King Abdulaziz’s personal items that we will briefly tour. These places are at the heart of the birth of the Saudi nation.

I was disappointed with the half day city tour I took in Riyadh. The guide only provided transportation and spoke limited English, so I didn't receive much information or guidance during the tour. Additionally, I learned that entrance to the museums we visited was free, which made the tour seem quite overpriced for what was included. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend this particular tour. It would be better to visit the sites independently or find a tour with a guide who can provide more value.

This overpriced tour is not a guided tour. It is a self-guided tour where you're expected to tour the museum independently. A driver simply picks you up and drops you off; you are better off taking an Uber. The tour company is also disorganized as they did not know the Murraba Palace was closed and only opens at 4 PM (we were dropped off at 10 AM at the museum). We requested to cut our tour short as we realized that this was not a guided tour and 1/2 of the attractions were closed. In summation, don't do this tour. Take an Uber for 1/10th of the price.

The driver wasn’t really a tour guide, just a driver. Nice enough but didn’t add anything and didn’t know that much about Riyadh and its history. The museum was really nice but it would have been nicer with a professional guide.
