This Downtown Culinary Tour is provided by CHARLESTON CULINARY TOURS, the longest-running food tour company in Charleston. Visit four food establishments on this 2.5-hour tour that combines elements of a historical tour with a culinary adventure! Learn about Charleston's history as you enjoy tastings of traditional favorites and contemporary innovations, all of which highlight the cuisine of locally-owned restaurants. Insight into Lowcountry cuisine accompanies the broad range of samples on your food tour. This is our original tour around the French Quarter and City Market and focuses on the traditional flavors of the region.

Tours operate rain or shine, hot or cold. In the rare cases of EXTREME weather (e.g. Hurricane!), we will notify all guests as soon as a decision to cancel has been made.

What To Expect
Charleston
After meeting your foodie guide at the provided meeting location in downtown Charleston, you will begin your walking tour. Sample dishes at 4 restaurants, finishing with dessert. Each stop lasts ~30 minutes, and you'll be seated to rest your legs. For most people, the amount of food served overal is enough for a meal. As you enjoy walking through this historical section of the city, listen to stories about Charleston's culture and cuisine from your guide, who points out landmarks along your route. This wonderful experience will end within walking distance of your starting point. *Food restrictions must be separately communicated to Charleston Culinary Tours at least 24 hours in advance to be accommodated. *We cannot accommodate Vegan, Dairy/Lactose-Free, or Soy-Free diets.

5.00This food tour was one of the highlights of our Charleston trip. We stopped at four different restaurants with about 20 minutes in each. Our guide, Georgia, was excellent. She made sure we were well taken care of and we learned a lot about low country cuisine. The pace was perfect and all the restaurants were within about a four block radius.

5.00Our tour guide, Georgia, was amazing. So much fun history and food facts shared! She kept things moving but we never felt rushed and thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Food sample portions were much more than we expected. We did the early afternoon tour and it took care of lunch AND dinner for us. Definitely a highlight of our time spent in Charleston.

5.00Such a great few hours with Simon! We got to visit four different restaurants…started with Poogan’s Smokehouse for delicious pork sliders and the best collards I’ve ever tasted, next on to Crab House for frogmore stew with the freshest shrimp and perfect seasoning (no shrimp was left behind!), third was Rudy Royale for delicious juicy fried chicken and the most amazing crispy potatoes, and last but not least was a sweet treat at Carmella’s…including a delicious espresso martini. Come hungry because it’s a ton of food! Simon was the best guide, full of interesting history and culture and nuances to Charleston and its people. Highly recommend!
