Just off the Palliki Peninsula's coast, lies the secluded paradise of Vardiani Island, veiled in an aura of mystery and allure. Extending gracefully eastward and broadening towards the west, this island is a repository of tales from its past, whispers echoing its former splendor, and an invitation to unravel its captivating charm. The island's name, thought to stem from the Italian words "vardia" or "guardiano," translating to "guardian," hints at its strategic role in safeguarding the bay's entrance. In 1824, directed by the Englishman Charles Napier, a majestic lighthouse, soaring to a height of 25 meters, was erected on the island. Its cylindrical tower and adjacent keeper's house stood as a guiding beacon for passing ships. Regrettably, the tower met its demise during Italian bombing in 1942 and succumbed to the ravages of the 1953 earthquake. Today, a smaller lighthouse stands in solemn tribute, faithfully illuminating the waters for navigating vessels.
Xi Beach
Embark on an extraordinary adventure and let the unconventional charm of Xi Beach in Lixouri, Kefalonia, sweep you off your feet. Unlike the typical pristine white or golden sands, Xi Beach boasts a mesmerizing hue of striking red, casting an almost surreal spell upon its shores. As your toes sink into the fine, reddish sand, let the Ionian Sea's gentle caress and crystal-clear waters create a sensory symphony. The shallowness of the waters, stretching far from the coast, invites you to enjoy leisurely swims and invigorating dips in this coastal haven. Xi Beach unfolds in two distinctive realms, offering an experience tailored to both the adventurous and those seeking serene relaxation. The wilder section provides a tranquil escape, where peace reigns supreme. For those yearning for added comfort, the organized area beckons with deck chairs, umbrellas, and traditional Greek restaurants, inviting you to relish culinary delights while basking in the warm embrace of the sun.

This excursion was one of the best I've been on- in Greece or around the world. Very economically priced and it far surpassed my expectations! The stops, the fun and sweet staff, the swimming gear, the delicious homemade lunch and dessert, the unlimited wine and water- it was definitely the highlight of our trip to Kefalonia!!

We had a wonderful, fun day with the dreamy cruise team. They ensured everyone was catered to in terms diving off the top deck or gently gliding into the water with flotation aids. The food and wine were delicious (traditional Greek pie & salad. A great atmosphere with genuine enthusiasm from the staff. Looked more fun & less crowded than other boats.
