The tour starts with a fun & interesting bus journey to the summit. Our experienced local guides will lead you all the way, providing commentary on the history, and nature of the area.
Your first bike ride is an exhilarating 6 km road descent from the summit of Mt Wellington. Starting 1270 metres above sea level, the summit experience & road descent have breathtaking views.
The second ride is an 11km off-road guided ride, gently rolling down an enchanting track through stunning temperate rainforest.
You'll experience breathtaking vistas, towering eucalyptus forests, gigantic ferns, a waterfall, walk under historic aqueducts, gaze into crystal clear babbling streams, and catch glimpses of curious local wildlife.
In between rides, we stop off at the Lost Freight Cafe, where you'll have time to grab some refreshments. The ride finishes back at our Hobart office.

Your tour starts at our South Hobart office. You'll receive a tour briefing, helmet & gloves. You'll also be introduced to your bike... brakes, gears, etc. Next, board our minibus for a 30-minute drive to the summit of Mt Wellington, 1270m above sea level. At the summit, take 15-minutes to explore & snap a few photos of the amazing views. Then, hop on your bike and ride the exhilarating 6 km summit road descent. For anyone preferring not to do this road ride, there is the option to come down in our support vehicle. We then have a quick stop-off at the Lost Freight Cafe; enough time for a drink, a snack, & toilet break. Next, it's a 15-minute bus journey to the start of the rainforest ride. This 11 km guided ride gently descends through temperate rainforest. The track is level, wide, with gentle gradients, & is easy to ride. The surface is compact dirt. Your guide will provide commentary on local history & wildlife. Riders should be comfortable on a bike with good basic bike handling skills. It's downhill all the way, so only a basic fitness level is required. If the summit is closed due to road works or bad weather, instead, we do a longer ride on the rainforest trail.

Beautiful mountain! Incredible panoramic views from the top after a short drive. Then a super fun downhill mountain bike experience begins with a quick stopover at a quaint snack shop. Our guide, was kind, informative & professional with outstanding equipment. We enjoyed our stops and discussions, especially the waterfall in the rainforest. They offer gloves, jackets, and neck warmers if needed at the summit. A very thoughtful and comfortable consideration. Plus, they have fun merchandise to commemorate your trip to Tasmania.

Fabulous morning cycling down from the summit of Mt Wellington. The first section is along the steep road but the bus follows the group with hazard lights flashing & absolutely no pressure for the slowest person. Then a coffee stop before cutting across the mountain on a wide dirt trail stopping along the way to learn interesting information about the area. A beautiful ride through ferns & eucalyptus trees, stopping at a waterfall & riding past the reservoirs. Just a lovely scenic ride that ends up back at the office in Hobart. Lovely, informative staff. Definitely need long sleeves & pants as the wind chill at the top & as you are heading down at speed has a bite. My only issue was that I wished we had been given another few minutes at the top of the mountain to enjoy the view (literally were told we had ten minutes) from the various points but I understand it was a descent tour not a summit view tour. Will highly recommend to my Sydney friends.
