Stirling Castle
Firstly, perched on Castle Hill, Stirling Castle is sure to catch your eye - if your guide doesn’t point it out first. Possibly one of Scotland’s most important castles, it’s here where Mary Queen of Scots was crowned Queen and spent most of her early childhood.
Callander
Known as The Gateway to the Highlands, Callander is the perfect place to start your West Highlands tour. Bursting with coffee shops, gifts shops - and of course a fantastic whisky shop - the first stop on this tour will get you ready for everything that’s to come. You can also take a stroll along the River Teith which flows along the edge of the town, with spectacular views of Ben Ledi and the Craggs behind the town.

This was the best day I have had on vacation in decades. The second best was the day tour I took of Edinburgh with Fraser and Hopscotch, two days before. I could not have asked for a more personable and knowledgeable guide then Fraser. Together we tailored the day to just for me. We visited: - Doune Castle (Castle Leoch in Outlander and Swamp Castle, Castle Anthrax and Camelot in Monty Python and the Holy Grail) - Callander (Mhor Bread) - Loch Lubnaig - Loch Tulla viewpoint - Rannoch Moor viewpoint - Buachaille Etive Mor (Triangular shaped mountain that features in Skyfall and Outlander S6 Ep 1) - Glencoe 3 Sisters - Glencoe Loch Achtriochtan - Glencoe NTS Visitor Centre - Luss, Loch Lomond - Stirling Castle photo - Forth Bridges Viewpoint The only thing I regret is that I did not plan more days with Fraser and Hopscotch. Planning on correcting that later this year.

My husband and I booked the private West Highland Day tour. IT WAS MAGNIFICENT. Michael, our guide, was informative and fun! He modified the tour so we could view our special interests. ( the Kelpies!). At no time did we feel rushed when we visited breathtaking sights in the West Highlands. The day was stress free because we were picked up and dropped off at our accommodations. The vehicle was comfortable and roomy. We would definitely utilize Hopscotch Travel in the future!

To summarize our experience - it was fantastic, and I cannot wait to return. We all enjoyed the scenery and history so much, but our entire family agreed the best part of the entire trip was our Hopscotch guide. We all were saddened to say goodbye at the end. I don’t know if I could recommend this place enough! We did a four day family tour of Scotland - focused on the highlands and the Isle of Skye, with a stop in St. Andrews as well. The tour van was perfect for our group of 6. There is too much good to list in one review, but if you want a small, more intimate Scotland experience, this is the way to do it! Our guide, Fraser, went above and beyond to make our trip personal, extremely informative, and made sure we hit all of the must see stops. He provided great recommendations and insight for things to do, and places to eat and see at each stop. I particularly enjoyed how he related personal experiences, historic significance, and pop culture references to many of the stops we visited. He was very knowledgeable and most important to our group, FUN.

This trip to the West Highlands was a wonderful experience for the two of us. It’s really remarkable how fast you can get from Edinburgh to these lovely Highlands. Our Guide Fraser was telling a lot about these beautiful landscapes and also about the Scottish History. We had a great time together with this very friendly guy Fraser. Sabine and Monika

Scotland is magic, and our guide, Michael, knows all its secrets. You couldn’t possibly choose a better company for touring anywhere in Scotland. My wife and I had an amazing day in the West Highlands, and Hopscotch delivered a five-star experience. Though our tour happened on the hottest day of the year, the van remained cool, comfortable, and stocked with water. Michael kept us informed of his route, time to destinations, and expected return to Edinburgh- taking care to be certain that we didn’t have any evening plans to meet. He also made sure to stop for breaks, guided us to a great spot for lunch in Inveraray, and happily granted my wife’s wish to meet a “hairy coo.” Indeed, Michael tailored the day to meet our expectations, and he deftly guided us to the best photo ops. By the end of the day, he’d come to know us so well that he made time for us to check out a churchyard in Luss that he rightly knew we’d love AND still left time for us to get another chance to see Stirling Castle, which had been hidden by fog that morning. He was truly committed to giving us the best day. And really, isn’t that what you want from a private tour? Michael is just the best: friendly, engaging, funny, and knowledgeable. He brought the history around us alive through myth and anecdote, and it was immediately obvious how much he loves sharing his country with others. And since he is one of the founders of the company, he’s setting a standard that I’m sure all their guides will meet. It was a truly unforgettable day, and we can’t wait to tour with Hopscotch again.

We have just returned from an amazing trip to Scotland. The highlight was our trip to the West Highlands with Hopscotch Travel. We had a day to kill and booked with them and were not let down. Thank you to the team for making it such a memorable trip for me and my family.
