Our sunrise whale watching is a relaxing and peaceful experience. At this time, the bay is calm and usually there are not many boats around, the animals are also in a different mood and the views and colors you can see in the sky are breathtaking.

When whale watching, we are normally the only boat doing the activity which makes it a very private and intimate experience.

It is our most popular and our favorite time to do whale watching because it is beautiful waking up to witness so much beauty

What To Expect

During this expedition you can see the sun rise on the horizon from the sea and experience the beautiful colors of the Baja California Sur sky. We will go out from the Cabo San Lucas marina, we will first try to find a quiet area in where we can set the hydrophone to listen to the whales, It is the perfect time to feel the silence of the bay and see wildlife in a very different way. Right after that we will start looking for whales, we will spend about 2 hours in the open ocean looking for them and watching them. On the way back, we will visit lovers beach, the sea lion colony and the famous arch so you can get a photo.

We had a great experience this January as in February 2023, so the decision to return with Lula to live this tremendous experience. They are a fantastic team, they share very important information about marine fauna.

It was a fantastic experience! Cecilia was sharing facts about Los Cabos and the Lower California cetaceans. It was always very helpful, friendly and attentive to all participants. I liked the fact that the boat wasn't crowded, and the trip was very comfortable. We were able to see whales, dolphins and lots of marlin fish. I highly recommend the company and the tour with Cecilia!

We had a great time. The tour leader was very knowledgeable and provided a great educational experience. We saw a variety of sea life on the tour. The tour was affordable and a phenomenal experience! Highly recommend!!!

We had already dated Proyecto Cetaceo last year and this year we decided to return with family. Again we were surprised with a super educational and clear tour with a lot of patience waiting for the whales that delighted us as usual. Thanks to our guide Cecilia and our Captain Tata for an experience we will never forget!

Unforgettable experience. Our guides, Ceci and Lula, not only professional and knowledgeable but also friendly and enjoyable. So is Captain Tata. Despite the weather, we were lucky enough to see whales, orcas, dolphins, marlins, flying fish, as well as sea lions and all kinds of birds. Highly recommended. Don't miss it. Happy third anniversary to Project Cetacean.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about Proyecto Cretaceo. We did the snorkeling and whale watching tour in March and it was one the best experiences. We are a family of 4 with 2 adults and 2 tweens. We were all blown away from beginning to end. The crew Angelika and captain Tata were so friendly and kind. The Poyecto team is made up of Marine Biologists and Angelika had printed images to show us and provided so much knowledge about the whale and marine life. We saw a huge pod of dolphins and were able to see a mama and baby whale as well as a whale breach. We snorkeled and saw beautiful fish. They provided a light brunch which was delicious. The captain is an excellent boat operator and was very respectful of the whale and all marine life as to not invade their space. We will definatly return and take another tour with Poyecto Cretaceo. My family left enamored with the whales and came home to watch documentaries and research where else in the world we can travel to see these beautiful mystical creatures. Another note is that Poyecto Cetaceo is woman owned and truly believes in conservation providing a percent of sales back to the whales. You will not regret this trip! Melissa

What an amazing tour. It was such a beautiful morning and cool to see all the wildlife just starting their day. We got to see a baby whale doing their jumping practice and a few adults. Even a giant male smacking the water with his fin. It was a very cool tour! The tour itself was really nice, the guide was very knowledgeable, friendly, and an amazing photographer. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who is looking for a a really cool, small business, knowledgeable guided tour. The photos alone are worth the $. If we come back to Cabo we will be booking with them again :).

Had a wonderful time on this tour. As a solo female traveler I am comfortable with male guides but having a female guide (captain was male) gave an extra level of comfort knowing I would be out in the ocean so early in the morning solo. I was fortunate to only have one other attendee to share the experience with who was also a sole female traveler. Outside of the kindness and professionalism, the guide was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about whales and their ways. They had an incredible eye for spotting them. We saw dolphins, a sea turtle, sea lions, hump back and grey whales. I don’t carry a professional camera so getting photos taken professionally and sent to you the same day was a treat. I highly recommend this particular tour owned by two young gals who know their stuff! Well done!

It's been a great experience, it all came together. Sunrise, whale watching jumping, whale singing, Angie is a great guide and we also had a responsible captain. I recommend it 100%, I would definitely repeat the experience.
