What To Expect
Ek Balam
Walk through Ek Balam roads and dare yourself to climb the top of the Acropolis, one of the last major Mayan ruins. Discover ancient mayan buildings that contains some of the finest Mayan artistic works in the Yucatan.
Valladolid is beautiful and peaceful city where you will walk around its streets visiting several locations like the main Plaza and the Convent of San Bernardino

5.00Vicente, our guide for two separate day trips through Mérida Elite, was not only personable but also incredibly fluent in English and extremely knowledgeable of each site we toured with him (Ek Balam and Chichen Itza). He far exceeded our expectations and made the experience unforgettable. He and the drivers (Samuel and Alex) even had a cooler with bottled water, soft drinks, and beer, snacks for the PM car rides, a cool hand towel available after walking the sites under the sun, and the right spots to get a Yucatec breakfast and coffee for the AM car rides.

5.00Amazingly informative. We had been to EkBalam without a guide years ago and we learned so much with Vincente, Even on the drive we learned about the areas we were passing through . Since we had been in this area before we asked if there were things we may have missed. He took us to this utterly charming town on their market day. This was certainly beyond the scope of the tour. When we stopped for lunch which was an extensive buffet he explained all the options and we were able to try many local dishes. He was thoughtful and very knowledgable. I must also compliment the driver who wove through streets easily so we could see the smaller parts of town. He also averted an accident that another driver was trying to cause.

5.00What a wonderful day! Our guide Gerry made it memorable. He was very knowledgable. He was very fluent in English and Spanish. He brought along books and pictures to illustrate things at EkBalam. This area was not too busy with us tourists. We were able to climb the ruins. Amazing! On the way to the cenote, Gerry even stopped along the road to pick a seed pod to show us how the Maya used it to paint. The cenote area was very nice, clean and comfortable. The lunch there was delicious! We would highly recommend this tour, especially if Gerry is your guide!!

5.00Our guide, Fausho, was very knowledgeable and kind. Our driver, Abraham, was also friendly. There we're only two of us and we had a very nice van/minibus to ourselves. There was a cooler of drinks and a box of snacks waiting for us, which was a nice gesture. Upon request, we made an extra stop in one of the villages we drove through to see how they smoke their meats (happens to be a family interest of ours). Ek Balaam was definitely worth seeing, if you are interested in Maya culture-- very different from other sites I've been. The cenote was somewhat busy, but still very enjoyable. Lunch was excellent! I was happy to see Valladolid, as it's been on my list of places to visit. However, a thunderstorm made it challenging to walk around. I would definitely recommend this trip and our wonderful guides!

5.00Carlos was a wonderful guide with endless knowledge about Yucatán history. We appreciated his flexibility as this was a private tour, and we were able to spend more time in places we enjoyed. He also has knowledge of plant and bird life that was very helpful and interesting. EkBalam is definitely worth visiting and cenote Saamal was beautiful. We got to see four Motmot birds inside the cenote! Great tour!

5.00My wife and I, accompanied by my sister and her daughter booked Merida Elite for 4 days of tours on the Yucatan Peninsula. On the first morning my niece had a stroke and was hospitalised. It is impossible to express the gratitude we have for the assistance the manager Gabriel, driver Abraham and guide Hugo provided to my sister over the next four days. Being in a foreign country , you can imagine the trauma of an event like this. Abraham and Hugo also provided first rate tours of the various sites in the Yucatan. Hugo is an encyclopaedia of knowledge. You could not ask for better. Thoroughly recommended for any tour you have in mind.
