Electric boat hire is enormously popular in the rest of the world but ours are the very first electric boats for hire in New Zealand.
Our boats are very easy to drive, no experience or license is required. The "Akaroa" boat is the easiest to drive so we recommend that one for complete beginners.
We are in the most perfect, sheltered location, the winding Kerikeri river offers a new vista around every bend and is teeming with wildlife.
The silent motor allows you to get up close to wildlife without disturbing them.
We have a choice of five different boats to suit singles, couple and groups of up to 7 people. We have enough boats for a maximum of 21 people at a time.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

We feel that we misread the offering. We expected to be able to operate more independently rather than a guided tour. Although we appreciate the effort. If we were to undertake the experience again I think we would take a few nibbles and a bottle of wine (except for the skipper ). Felt a little underwhelmed with how we were treated given that we all built and sailed competitive racing yachts and engaged in bare boat charters on numerous occasions. Life jackets also need cleaning.

We enjoyed an hour trip today. Due to high winds, we boarded at the stone store wharf. The boats are easy to drive. Being electric, the only sound you hear is water movement and the bird life It was an exceptional way to see the Kerikeri inlet Would recommend doing the two hour version.

Excellent trip and very peaceful being an electric boat. The lead boat was operated by staff so easy to follow behind to guide us where it was best to sail. Will do this again next time we are in Kerikeri

This was a lovely unique experience! The added bonus was our guide on the 'lead' boat showing us all the local secrets we wouldn't have discovered on our own. We also requested a change on the day to stop somewhere which was no problem at all for him. Would recommend!

Had a great time being guided by Chris in our quiet electric boat. So peaceful exploring the Kerikeri inlets, even some that weren’t so obvious. Would easily do it again. Highly recommended.

A relaxing and very quiet 2 hour trip around the rivers of Kerikeri. Definitely a different way to see Kerikeri and was enjoyable. The riverboat was a bit of a tight squeeze for the six of us larger type over 60's people. Was very easy getting on and off and life jackets were recommended but not mandatory. The guy that gave us instruction was ok but was slightly late (a text would have been great) and he did keep his distance and still able to give us river directions. Would recommend.

Highly recommended!! A great way to leisurely experience the gorgeous Keri Keri river. A big thanks to Chris and her adorable daughter who had a hand made souvenir for us:)

Very pleasant, gentle ride along the estuary and out into the harbor at Kerikeri. Boats were incredibly quiet, enabling close approaches to birds and other wildlife along the bank. The estuary has a 5mph speed limit, and the boats are accordingly regulated, so don't be expecting wind in your face and a hair-raising ride. But it's a nice, gentle way to spend a couple of hours, and the presence of a guide/escort was probably the only way we avoided getting lost in the back channels of the estuary.

What do to between Christmas and New Year in the mid north. I had spotted a bit about this business, self drive boat hire in the Waipapa Kerikeri River area. Being a few years since I had been on these rivers and my wife never being on them perfect. A couple of emails to Chris asking about the area of operation and a booking was made for 3 hours that would enable us to go to the Outer reaches of operation at Rangitane, back up to the Stone Store and then end up back at Waipapa Landing where ewe had left from. I had booked a 2 seat catamaran, there was a bit of a wind that had come up so Chris upgraded us to a very lovely English riverboat “Solarly” that had a bigger electric motor owing to the areas we wanted to go and the wind. Accompanied by Chris we had a very enjoyable day, as he lead us down and back, even with a little side jaunt up a stream where he wouldn’t normally take this boat due to its length. Chris makes no attempt to rush you and is more than willing for you to set the pace and stop and or look at anything that takes your interest. The boat is very easy to handle, almost silent, and with a length of over 6 metres and seating for 6 there is no requirement to wear a life jacket. THEY ARE PROVIDED if you feel the need. They offer a range of boat types with two, four, six or seven seats, something to suit everyone. Large groups can take several boats. Yes we will be going back and doing this again and taking others with us. Thanks Chris a most ENJOYABLE TIME
