Discover the secrets of Argentine cuisine in this hands-on cooking class, hosted in my home in a quiet residential neighborhood of Buenos Aires. You'll be welcomed with alfajores and mate, our traditional infusion, and I'll share the rituals that surround them. Then we’ll start off with the cooking class: I'll teach you how to make empanadas from scratch, both the dough and the filling. While we cook, we'll enjoy a classic picada — an Argentine charcuterie board — to nibble on as we cook . Once the food is ready, we'll sit down together to enjoy the meal we've prepared, paired with a glass of Malbec and good conversation, and finish with a classic Argentine dessert. I'll guide you every step of the way, sharing the techniques, the history behind each dish, and the regional traditions that shape Argentine cooking. This is an excellent opportunity to discover how locals live and pick up insider tips on great places to visit and eat in the city. You'll spend a relaxed day in the comfort of a local's cozy home in a beautiful residential neighborhood, inside Buenos Aires' first certified Passive House. Most ingredients are organic, beef is grass-fed and eggs are pasture-raised.

I had the most wonderful time learning to make empanadas during a personalized cooking class in this charming local home. The neighborhood itself is absolutely beautiful quiet, leafy, and full of character, and the home felt warm and welcoming from the moment I arrived. The host was fantastic! She was patient, encouraging, and clearly passionate about sharing her culture. The class was perfectly personalized, and I loved getting hands on with the dough, fillings, and folding techniques. Everything tasted incredible, and I left with new skills I can’t wait to try at home. What made the experience even richer was how she shared stories about local customs, including the traditions around yerba mate. It turned the cooking class into a genuine cultural immersion that went far beyond just food. If you’re looking for an authentic, heartfelt experience rather than a generic tourist activity, this is it. Highly recommend, and one of the highlights of my entire trip!

Shir was wonderful. She opened up her home for us, made sure we were all comfortable. She had everything prepared and was very patient with all of us. Altogether there were 3 of us in the class. Shir spoke very well english and demonstrated all we needed to do before giving up the aprons and letting us to do all the cooking. She also introduced us to the ways of drinking the classic and popular Mate drink. I thought it was interesting when Shir said that Argentinians can be very relaxed about many things but not about their Mate drinking! She also introduced us to the very delicious Alfajores cookies with Dulce de Leche filling...yum! And at the end of the class she made homemade Flan for us....so delicious. So this class was much more then just an empanada cooking class....Shir introduced us to 1) baked delicious meat and veggie & cheese and onion empanadas 2) mate & alfajores 3) Homade flan 4) some Argentinian culture. I highly recommend this wonderful class.

I was looking for an authentic, local culinary experience and this didn't disappoint! Shir was very welcoming, spoke English well, and gave a lot of informative tips about Argentinian culture and cuisine. My husband and I enjoyed conversing with the others in the group and learning how to make empanadas from scratch.

Shir was so lovely and welcomed myself and my husband in her home. It was much more than a simple cooking class - we learned about Buenos Aires, the tradition of yerba mate and got to know each other in such an intimate setting. We are looking forward to put the newly acquired skills to use and try to make empanadas at home. Very kindly, Shir also provided us with a recipe book so this would be easier. This was hands down one of the highlights of our stay in Buenos Aires!

Shir’s empanada class was an amazing experience that resulted not only in a delicious meal that we learned to make and later enjoyed as our lunch, but also a touch of true cultural immersion. As we learned to cook she shared stories providing a glance into what it’s like to be a local resident of the beautiful city of Buenos Aires. We started the class with a lesson about mate, tasted it for the first time, and sampled two kinds of alfajores. Our class ended with a delicious meal, dessert, and lots of laughs shared together as a group. This class was a highlight of our vacation!!!

Shir is a wonderful teacher and host! I came alone and felt very welcomed into her home. I learned more than I could’ve expected about mate, empanadas, Buenos Aires, and Argentine customs. Shir is so genuine and really took the time to get to know the other guests and me. She was able to create such a warm space for conversation, which not many people can do so naturally. Can’t forget about the food - the empanadas were delicious and now I have a little recipe booklet to take home as well. Great way to end my trip to BA, I highly recommend.

What an amazing way to learn about Argentinian food culture. Shir is an incredibly teacher and has so much knowledge about the food, the ingredients and techniques needed to make an authentic empanada Argentina. You’ll take part on every single step of making empanadas. From tasting herbs to making dough from scratch. The hours flew by as she made us so comfortable at her kitchen. Great experience! Highly recommend it!
