Red Shanked Douc Langurs are endangered primates and almost found only in Vietnam. Son Tra is where these creatures call home

What To Expect
Extra charge of 10usd on National Holidays 1Jan & 16-20Feb2026 Embark on the fascinating world of our most endangered primates, off the beaten track and away from the tourist traps. In an easy, 3 hour-adventure, across twisting mountain road, scenic terrain, we will go into secret spaces that only the Red-Shanked Douc Langurs aka Rare Monkeys know. From encountering sprightly off-springs during breeding-season (March to July) to seeing the adults or alpha male, or just to enjoy the sight of monkeys being monkeys, you’ll learn how to tell a "she" from a "he", how to tell their age, and also participate in real-time research by helping to collect data about the monkey we encounter. We will meet a supporting cast of forest creatures; birds, colorful butterflies, plants, or sometimes mongoose. On the trail we travel, I'll find chances to have a conversation with local animal photographers. We can hear the insights and see their amazing photos from them for a better understand of the monkey . Not only we go finding rare animals but also have opportunity to see an amazing hidden sceneries of Monkey Mountain, secret beach, altogether will combine to make our trip full of surprises.

5.00We had a wonderful morning with Cillian and team at Son Tra peninsula and were very lucky to see multiple douc langur family groups! The guides were very experienced and knowledgeable, giving us clear instructions on how to observe the langurs without being too intrusive. We felt safe and relaxed during the motorcycle rides, and appreciated that the team brought us to several sightseeing spots as well. Would highly recommend!!

5.00Our guides picked us up at our hotel. They were amazing! Very knowledgable and great at finding the monkeys. I think we were able to see around 30 of the langurs, including tiny baby monkeys. We were able to take our time watching the monkeys, with the binoculars provided. Our guides also helped find the best picture angles, and were clearly also enjoying taking pictures. Great vibes, highly recommend!

5.00It was a truly fantastic experience with Cillian, Alan, Leo and Thang . We had 4 amazing sightings of Red-Shanked Douc Langur troops - more than we had hoped for! The team were really professional and knowledgeable and took some great pictures, which they shared with us afterwards. We rode on motorbikes through the nature reserve and we felt relaxed at all times as they were very safe drivers. We would highly recommend this tour for those who love nature and want to see this beautiful endangered species up close (at a respectful distance!).

5.00This is a once in a lifetime experience in the Son Tra mountains. You will be met by the most knowledge and lovely tour guides and motorbike riders we had the absolute pleasure of being with Alan and Leo we couldn’t have asked for better. They knew everything about the monkeys and where to find them even taking professional photos of them for us and sharing them with us after the tour - see below. This is not a tourist trap type of tour it is all about the monkeys and nothing else. If you are looking for a no nonsense straight forward tour then book this tour! It will not disappoint

5.00Wonderful morning motorbike excursion to Son Tra Peninsula with Cillian and Alan to see the Langurs. It was my first time on a motorbike - it was fun and very safe. We saw multiple groups of the Langurs on the ride. Incredible experience and not to be missed!
