5.00My trip to northern Ethiopia with Haile Salassie of Ethiopia Tigray Tours can be described as spiritual, educational and life-changing. I chose a great tour with a blend of history, culture, and adventure. The main part of my tour was my trek to the ancient church located high in a Tigrayan cliff called Abune Yamata. I have to admit that I was afraid to climb the church; however, Haile assured me that I would not fall as he had multiple guides in place and provided calm encouragement throughout the climb. The other part was at the ancient church at Wukro Chekros, which was built a little over 400 years after Christ was on Earth. Haile answered every question I asked with thoroughness and a seriousness of purpose as I learned about sites associated with the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. The pictures and videos from this experience have positively changed the perception of family and friends back home. I will embark on another trip that would serve well in the promotion and awareness of the Tigray region as a premiere destination to Africa with Ethiopia Tigray Tours as the official tour agency. As I now call him a brother, the hospitality by Haile Salassie and the people of Tigray is worth a return trip. Alton J. Willis New Orleans, USA
