What To Expect
Imjingak Pyeonghoa-Nuri Park
Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri Park (Imjingak Peace Park) is a symbolic site located near the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), in Paju. Every DMZ visitors must stop by here to by DMZ tickets, only 3000 people are allowed in a day! Once you arrive here, you will have some free time for breakfast and coffee and then tour guide will bring you around the park! It was built to commemorate the division of Korea and to promote peace and reunification. The park features important landmarks such as the Freedom Bridge, war memorials, and a steam locomotive damaged during the Korean War. Visitors can enjoy wide open spaces, art installations, and scenic views of the surrounding area, making it both a historical and relaxing place to visit.
Mangbaedan is a memorial altar located at Imjingak, near the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). It was built for people who were separated from their families during the Korean War. Since many could not return to their hometowns in North Korea, they come to Mangbaedan to bow, pray, and honor their ancestors. The name “Mangbaedan” means “a place to bow while looking toward the north.” On special holidays like Lunar New Year and Chuseok, many visitors perform traditional rites here, expressing their longing for family reunification. Today, it stands as a powerful symbol of separation, remembrance, and hope for peace. After going around Mangbaedan, you will see Freedome Bridge, Derailed locomotive, Dokgaedari, Imjingak peace park itself! Don't forget to buy some special souvenir which is real north Korea money bill!

5.00This is my second time taking a DMZ tunnel tour but i think first time with Here Korea Travel. This agency is excellent and provides superior tours and service. I booked 3 tours with them this year. Our DMZ guide was Vincent and he was very pleasant, organized, knowledgeable, and friendly and gave us all the information we needed when we needed it to make our tour the best it could be and memorable. He picked us up on time at the hotel and dropped us off in specific Seoul areas convenient to sightseeing . His driving was excellent and i felt safe at all times. Our DMZ tour was thought provoking. I learned so much from Vincent about the Korean war, North Korea, recent events with North Korea, military service requirements for all males, families who were separated and the toil and hardships the war caused. We saw north korea at the observatory which made the experience and atmosphere more poignant. You come away from this trip physically tired and alot more aware of the effects war has on people and the sacrifices of the Korean people.
